Kayak has arrived at the docks apparently, I've paid my 600 odd quid, should be with me by mid November. Just around the time when the water temp makes it dangerous to go out without a thick wetsuit. I have, but not sure how comfortable paddling in it will be. Time will tell I guess. A wetsuit with arms is not that comfortable to paddle in. A farmer john type is much better, coupled with a rash vest beneath, and a spray top above if required. A drysuit is another option, but more expensive, and not as comfortable imo. The big problem with either is when you need to go for a pee. Cheers I suspected paddling wouldn't be comfortable in a 5/4. I'm not in the position to extend my range of watersport clothing at the moment so I'll maybe stick to surfing over the winter. I will give it a go though, when my new toy arrives!

It's a sea kayak but very strangely, you can also use it on rivers.

If government chooses to pay people for doing nothing during a pandemic, refuses to increase taxes for people who have nothing to spend their money on, creates artificially low interest rates in order to encourage higher spending, borrows money on behalf of people not yet born in order to enable yet more spending and if that wasn't enough, turns on the money printing presses....inflation isn't a possibility, it's a racing certainty.
As if all the above wasn't enough: government does away with stamp duty for a period encouraging people, rather stupidly confident in the artificially low interest rates, to panic buy houses at inflated rates. So, the usual solution to an overheated economy, higher interest rates, would leave the finances of many in tatters. Being a populism driven government it won't do this or if it does, it will likely 'bail out' those affected, stripping yet more leaves, branches and bark from the magic money tree, further compounding the terrible mess their profligacy has created.
Have a nice day all.

No, and no update as to its likely arrival. I've been having fun though The (sea) bass are in, had a monster last night, near as dammit pulled my rod in when it took. 6 1/2 pounds of bristling, angry beauty. I put it back to fight another day. Damn, could have got near on fifty quid for it down the local tourist restaurant where the more well heeled Brummies seem close to climaxing over 'locally line caught sea bass'.

I love the sea. It's mean and moody, immensely powerful yet sometimes romantic and beguiling. Its myriad of life (that humans haven't fucked over, at least) all fighting the life and death game for their little bit of 'turf'. Its varying colours, its oily tidal movement on a calm day, its angry waves roaring at the dead of night.
Anyone who ends up in the sea, is a lucky person indeed.

If someone had told me at that fateful moment, when my engine slowly died in King's lock, that it would lead to a saga resembling an update of 'War and Peace' I would have called them a lying bastard. How little would I have known.

Quick tot up: I'm aware of 15 words for the referred to part of the female anatomy. Have I missed any?

I've not heard that one. I have however heard the term 'growler' used to refer to said body part. An ill kept one, apparently. Not that I'd use that kind of language myself of course. I always understood that as referring to a ladygarden which has become naturally abundant. Yes, the Amazon rainforest.

I once tried to explain the term 'Sweeney' to a Norwegian chap. It was surprisingly difficult. Random thought - one I didn't know until a while ago: 'Scarper' - Scapa Flow - Go. Or "Grumble", short for "Grumble and grunt"- a part of the female anatomy. I've not heard that one. I have however heard the term 'growler' used to refer to said body part. An ill kept one, apparently. Not that I'd use that kind of language myself of course.
