Miserable rainy day here. There's as much rain predicted for Storm Dennis as for Storm Ciara but the problem if of course that this time around the ground is already saturated so I can see more flooding on rivers this time. "Dennis the menace: Storm has become a 'BOMB cyclone' that is 'one of the strongest EVER seen in the Atlantic' as it rages towards Britain and will be WORSE than Ciara when it hits this afternoon" "No fewer than 40,000 passengers have been affected so far as budget airline EasyJet cancels 234 flights from, to and within the UK as the fourth named storm of the year fourth named storm of the year brings 70mph winds and 100mm of rainfall in some areas from Saturday morning." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8006819/Storm-Dennis-explodes-BOMB-cyclone-one-strongest-seen-Atlantic.htmlI noticed on a news feed that people have been complaining about cancelled flights, just goes to show there are plenty of Darwin Award nominees waiting in the wings . This country is populated with whingers because they complained that EA didn't sound a WW11 siren as a flood warning, EA thought that phone calls, text messages and e-mails would do the job. I now live at an altitude of 30ft and still get flood warnings from EA if the Lark is going to try to escape Phil

Flappy stood huffing and puffing, all the while muttering under his breath " Huh,put in all this effort to make today a special day and look what's happened ...... John has ruined my bestest hammer, the punt has been ruined... again, Peter has absconded .... again, the unStable Bar so tastefully decorated ruined .... again , makes me mad .... again" Flappy stood and took stock of the situation, what is needed was a moment of normality, we need Patty back that's for sure, we need Mrs BB to be in cahoots with the girls (snigger) and we need Taff to take control of his human and stop Peter from zapping off all over the place. With a sigh Flappy retrieve his trusty tandem tricycle, hitched a rope to it, selected the lowest gear and slowly but surely towed the unStable Bar back to its cut side location. Once this one done Flappy set about the Thunder Punt and with a heavy heart he began to beat the bejabbers out of it, crafting its battered shell back to its once fabulous self. Flappy called out for help to John, Metal Lady and Mrs BB, it was a case of " all hands on deck"

The director of the Yutani bio-weapons division gave me his personal assurance he has no knowledge of the virus just last week. But my pet hamster told me he was lying. This whole episode is as natural as the BSE event. ETA is eating live monkey brains more or less weird than eating a burger made from the brains of a cow that was fed with the unsaleable remnants of another cow? Yes it bloody is. Phil

Unusual for pre-pack coal to come in fabric bags, I've had pre-pack from coal merchants on and off for the last 50 odd years and its always been in plastic sacks. I was on mates terms with one local merchant, Pocklington, and even then 35 years ago they used plastic bags because it took seconds to whip them off the scales and heat seal the bag, whereas sewing took much longer and was fraught with danger from broken needles etc etc. Phil

now it really is fucked up. My entry page is 'view new content' and it opens saying 'We could not locate the item you are trying to view'. obviously some moaning minnie has shouted and the 'site crew' can't find their oars..... or is this a personalised message to say I've been purged? You've been banned. It won't be long until you try to sign in and a notice pops up saying "People like you are not wanted here." So you have seen that pop up too Phil

Yes they do offer packages but as Chris was checking it out she said something like "Kinnel!! I'd rather try to spend that on booze" knowing that despite not being a lightweight she would be unable to put away that much booze. Phil

Well I had a shock when I found my garden bench had blown over tsk tsk. Regarding Mouse's hatch, a mate of mine had a lucky escape when the wind took the sliding canopy off a boat and flipped it over his boat and into the water behind. It was a hell of a weight and took 4 hefty guys to wrestle it back into position. Phil

Flappy thought quite right, a Merlin doesn't run on Derv and that would create all kinds of problems with the BSS Flappy dismissed the engine from his mind and decided to concentrate on preparations for Friday Flappy had snuck out on Mrs Flappy and was busy with loads of pink and red paper and a pair of scissors Flappy lovingly crafted pink and red Roses and had already filled a large cardboard box with paper rose petals. Flappy worked solidly with just the occasional flagon of Gruntfuttocks, just to stave of dehydration you understand Flappys next task was to transform the unStable Bar into a repository of all things romantic, he had a load of joss stick holders that he dotted around and gave the Coate Faerie instructions to light them on FRIDAY THE 14TH. Flappy was turning out a load of red crepe swages which he fixed around the unStable Bar so it resembled some sort of alien growth. Finally Flappy went round with a humongous box of red candles which he adorned the tables, the bar, the window ledges in fact any vacant flat surface . Standing back to admire his handy work Flappy felt that there was one thing missing ...... a centre piece, but what to use? Suddenly Flappy had a epiphany moment and thought ....... red dodecahedron !!!!!

WiFi and internet is readily available on board most cruise lines but is extremely costly, likewise mobile phone use aboard is prohibitively expensive When Chris is cruising she waits till she is ashore before ringing me, I am an avid webcam watcher, have seen people who Chris described but never saw actually saw her. Flappy had in fact travelled forward by 5 minutes and suddenly popped up in the water with the rest of the crew, only problem was that all that was visible of Met was the top of her head. Acting swiftly Flappy dived down with a stout rope and made a bowline around Metal Lady them swam to the surface and attached the line to the capstan and began to haul up Metal Lady. Having successfully raised Met from the depths Flappy set to with a can of WD40 in each hand and administered a medicinal spray all over Metal Lady ensuring that all the nooks and crannies received a liberal soaking. While this was going on Metal Lady was giving some thought to perhaps upgrading to Stainless Steel

Flappy was once again on his soapbox and was shouting to make himself heard. "Look around you lot, it's obvious that something is going on, global warming is happening... period , and we must all face upto to it " drawing breath Flappy continued "I'm not sure what the answer is but what I do know is that we have to do something and just perhaps we should listen to all the lobbies, pick through all the verbal dross and seek a sensible solution" Banning diesel is a good start but we must accept that it is only good for some uses, it's no good for boating so should remain afterall the amount that boaters put out is but a drop in the ocean so they should be able to use it. Weigh up the cost of providing EV charge points around the whole system it's obvious that is not sustainable. In fact how is it possible to provide EV points around marinas is a none goer" Flappy paused while his two brain cells struggled to catch up with each other. " ditch diesel for wheeled vehicles, cars buses lorries and trains would make a serious dent in the problem because of the relative ease of setting up EV charge points to sustain them" "The biggest problem as I see it is domestic use of gas, there is a very real problem in switching to using electricity for home heating, the cost of changing gas boilers for electric is mind blowing plus before that can happen we need a vast area of solar farms and wind farms to provide the clean power." Flappy sank back into his seat, spent and exhausted from the effort of stringing so many words together and waited for the flack to come in.
