I now remember that the last 'flat pack' put together with youngest son was gonna be my last ever...
I now know why I decided no more flat packs..... however no standard sized bed would fit in the small space.. time to walk Freya.....

Yesterday afternoon Son dropped me 4 miles from the house and wandered back along the beach with the wolf Tide on the turn and chill touch to the air made walking pleasant. Very few people and, for once no yappy aggressive little dogs 'having a go' Daughter picked us up at the bottom of the final hill home as she just happened to be getting back from work.
Did it gain us a peaceful evening?...Nah squeaky toys rule! Flat pack bed has arrived ...that a fiasco with delivery guys attempting to get van down unadopted lane despite being told front door delivery required. They then apportioned 'blame' to me... apparently I should have realised where they were.... It was supposed to be a 2 man delivery but one guy wouldn't get out the van so Mr Attitude really struggled with the weight. I am so tempted to fill out the dissatisfaction survey but I never normally bother and TBH what the heck does it matter?

You can't make it up - I really am cursed... So - 2 important things to note here... my best friend is unhurt & the RAC are incompetent . The padding verson is that I'd had 3 tickets booked and 2 hotel rooms in Stoke for Fascinating Aida last night for months... Ok so the bosun wasn't coming but my best friend was... she left Bedale (North Yorkshire) about 3pm to drive down and meet me at the hotel. She got involved in an accident on the M60 (something hit her car underneath and resultant bang sent oil all over the motorway and her spun to the side... engine inoperable. This was half 4. Accepted she wasn't going to make it as the RAC said theyd be about 40 mins to collect her and as we had to be covid checked into the theater for 6/30 - not a hope... Anyway - I ummed and arred about NOT going on my own but (after 3/4 bottle of vino) I grew a pair of balls 9and given I was 200 quid down for the night anyway) I went - offering the spare 2 tickets to the girls behind reception in the hotel in case any of their friends/family wanted to go. Seemed odd being in the theatre on my own but I wrapped my self around another 2 large flasses of vino (at £7.90 a glass ffs) and made the best of it. On leaving the Theatre about 10, she had been collect by one truck and then abandoned at a service station to await another truck to take her and her car home 4.30 AM the other one hadn't arrived and they FINALLY sent her a taxi - the car to follow later. Her husband (ex marina) at home going mad with them... rightly so. Anyway - important thing is she's fine and the car is insured and can be mended... it was a miserable night though for all and certainly not the intended "uplift". Off to the gym now to fight the flab. Incidentally - I must have looked really sad this morning cause when I TRIED to get a refund on the unused room, explaining my friend had had a crash on route and didn't make it, they tried to give me a cuppa and chat - only then did it occur my wording had implied she had been killed... it's not really funny but certainly dark humour and that was probably the most amusing thing about the last 24 hours. U r having a run of bad luck.... It will change... There are positives in your tale of woe..your friend is OK...and I think thats the most important. Hope her husband wipes the floor with the RAC... Covid has become a 'what have u' excuse for appalling service and its more than time that these Service Providers got their acts together. Take care...

I haven't been down weed hatch yet as I've pulled a muscle somehow, but it's best done before cold weather next week. I don't think there is an extra fitting, at the gland, just the minimum. I'd like to dry out and degrease the engine hole, but it's impossible to get these consumables where I am, but it's safe for the boat, well lit and gated, with CRT services. Well take things easy and recover.. Good to hear u r safe

Apparently I am helping with a garden this pm.. Halloween fever has hit daughters street ..there's a local competition. I thought I'd rock up with Iggy and the Wolf and supervise mayhem..... What could possibly go wrong?

Yesterday was pretty good. Met up with the guy who sorted out my boat for me.. we've stayed friends Looked at his ongoing project.. beautiful interior. He's used gloss varnish(5 coats) on some of the interior wood and I think this boat will be amazing. Then checked out his retirement project(old dutch barge hull)..has 'potential' Shared news and they off I went. Just about to go hospital..daughter in law thinks the pain prob due to fact I've done 'stuff'... not that I've owned up to exactly how much I've done. Driving has aggravated pain. Ah well onwards n upwards..but I had a good day yesterday. I think its the first friend I've seen since Lockdown number 1!... Covid has certainly changed life.

OK, so I don't do long trips, usually 2 hours give or take, and I don't always check oil, but I never tighten the nuts on the plate that press the stuffing box. So I got a boatyard (very experienced), to service the engine, and stated that far too much water was coming in to boat, at stern. He showed me how to tighten it up, unscrew outer nuts, quarter turn inner nuts 17 mm bronze. Stated this was part of daily checks, well I've never seen anyone doing this on YouTube, and not seen it on the forum either. I just can't believe it! Obviously, it is barely accessible, and Ive done maybe 12 hours in gear, so really not a lot. Is this yet another thing they don't tell you, I assume the stuffing box is OK, I did ask..... I didn't sign up for all these problems, if its not the infrastructure collapsing around me, it's the bloody boat! I was told the greaser was a daily job post cruising but tightening the nuts only now and again... I had a Tupperware container under the stern greaser to collect any drips. In fact the guy who did fit out etc of my boat was adamant that those nuts were not to be tightened every day. He did say a quarter of a turn each.

What is really needed is a man of action, not just a keyboard warrior. We need someone who is an expert in everything to glue their hands to the bonnet of Richard Parry's limo in Milton Keynes. Can't be me, I have to go boating. Well I managed to glue my hands trying to stick the soles back on my walking shoes so I'm not offering.... B..... mess that was.
