I've just booked my boat in for blacking next September, after I have been away cruising and before the weather turns too cold (hopefully).
They asked me if I wanted anything else done, so I said the gloss paintwork above the rubbing strake and the counter bands. They check anodes and rudder/propeller as a matter of course. Is there anything else I should consider having done while it is out of the water?

Hows your stern gland packing? If thats not a too personal question! Good point. It does drip at the end of a run, maybe a drip every five seconds, although a turn of the greaser stops this. Might be worth getting it looked at.

Might be worth getting it looked at. If you have a fair amount of adjustment on it, and a turn on the greaser stops the drips, tis probably ok.

Probably worth also looking at how good your shafting is. This can deteriorate with age.

The only other thing I can think of is a hull survey if one is required for insurance purposes around about the same time.

What blacking are you using? I was very impressed with Keelblack very easy to apply, good coverage, fast drying and can withstand impact well!! I did put mine over the zinger so the surface was perfik John however has sever pitting despite having two packing the boat when built, but the keelblack covered this well and looked well when finished

Its always worth having a good look at the screw as well when docking.
It is very important to always have a good screw on a boat.

Any feedback in this welcome. In the past it has been done with Rytex, I'm not sure what it was done with last time?

1. So you're not doing the blacking yourself? I would. Then you can see for yourself the true situation, and know that it's then been painted properly. 2. How old are your anodes? Slap new ones on anyway? How are they attached? 3. Stern gland packing? What do you know about it - when was it last done? If you don't know, get it done - or do it yourself - or watch someone do it so you know next time. Quite simple. 4. Black gloss above blacking = do it yourself? You can even do this when the boat is parked up alongside a nice level mooring. 5. Reminder of our blacking experience: goo.gl/photos/TRSBtrojNYDNoXAR7
