I honestly don't know how good it is .... I have got a tube of it that I bought "in case" but have never used. If you have got so far and are stuck (sorry) with the last little bit, it might be worth a go.

I suspect by the time I went out and found some eater, or waited for the post, I'll have hacked through it. Interesting idea though, reading the blurb it's maybe more use for cleaning up those lasts bits that won't scrape or cut off without damage. It could take weeks/months/years to eat through 6-10mm wide x 75mm deep?

Orbital fasteners is a really wicked place. I used to live near it in Rickmansworth. Always popping in for screws bolts and drill bits. Proper supplier they are. Not sure if screwfix have screwed them a bit or not.
Anyway sorry off topic

I'm a bit stuck up here with b&q level retailing or chandlers.

Me too...but to be serious they did cut my worktops up very nicely for me - width and depth, I'd have probably taken all day and made a massive mess of it and a massive mess generally.

Can't beat a very sharp bread knife, cheaper is usually better as they are thinner and more bendy which is what you want for silicone but not bread.

Fair point they are good for board cutting (I think some stores have stopped offering this or started charging for it) but otherwise they are shit. Not to put too fine a point on it!

I think you deserve more pics after all your help and when I start to put it back together... This is the wall of the shower cubicle that I've been trying to leave for obvious reasons. The bathroom floor is a patchwork of previous chopped up ply. This is what I was trying to do, having decided to leave the wall with the taps. And finally a view of the chaos below, more patchwork, all vaguely fastened in place. I'm thinking I'll end up having to take the tray right out and have a bit of a tidy up. All for a badly specced screw. Ignorance was bliss.

The screw is into an insert, maybe I can punch it out from the other side with the remains of the screw, that would be a start.

I'm wondering what I can soak it in to eat the rust and loosen it. I has phosphoric acid in a shed 150 miles away, wd40 is rubbish...
The insert is brass.
