A39 spotted motoring on the Thames today. The 2LW sounded lovely. Nice thing to see. Crap photo but it just about gets the message across. Nice to see cool boats

I can't do large boats.
To be honest our 60m Bennetti was a nightmare in La Ciotat and the CRN which is only 55m in St Tropèz is becoming a nuisance.
Superyachts. Who'd have em?
In future (and present) I will have to limit myself to a maximum of 12m.

I was the geyser in the yellow electric canoe at Bourne End. Raffia hat. Also noticed you round the back of the island at Cliveden later that afternoon. Cool to see it being used. Good luck with the ongoing maintenance and care of A39.

Small request when you venture onto the Grand Union for information on a Sister Boat to A 39 which was in the Uxbridge area. General opinion is that this L & L Short Boat could be A 38. As you may be aware on your boat the Letter and Number's of this fleet had identification stamped in the steel work on either side of the bows and also on the Port Side stern end, Additionly there was a Yarwood's identification stamped across the top of the stern behind the tiller arm below the top 'D' strake. On A 39 this number is 162379. Hope they are still visible. On the A 38 the number is 162378. you will have to get close to these areas of the boats to i.d. them. Best wishes for you future trips.

For reference the boat in question is blue and moored between Packet Boat marina and Cowley lock on the main line of the Grand Union.
That's where it has been for ages. I think they might have docked and painted it but suspect still on the same mooring.
The steel cabin is unusual in that it is folded rather than welded with a no angles just curves. Nice effect. Nice boat.
Also the boat has a lot of small repair plates which someone previously suggested could have been to do with it having been unloaded by a grab rather than suction.

Isn't it easier to just the pour concrete over the holes? Might get snitched on though.

Strangely the repairs are above the waterline.
I never quit understood the point of this but we have what we have.

Actually suspect the repairs were carried out when boat was still in trade. The plates are rivetted on if I remember right.
It's an interesting mystery boat.
My version of Google maps doesn't have all the up to date things but I think some versions would show the boat from towpath as a Street view image.
About 500 yards up from Packet boat marina towards Uxbridge. Offside.

How would you know, . . considering that A41 gets along like a ruptured duck - in its accompanying cloud of black smoke and flies - and that when you rented a mooring from me at Barton you never once succeeded in coming alongside without misjudging the river current and crashing into my boat ? Why don't you post those photos taken after you parked, and holed it, on top of those concrete craneboat weights a few feet out from the bank on the Aire & Calder near Heck ? Wonderful bit of boat handling that was !
