I'm getting concerned that the 'portly' chap with the pick axe handle has returned to seek retribution for your adverse comments.
Is all well on the Rochdale?

Rog I'm just hoping we don't break down again because I'd have to tell RCR not to send the useless clown again. But otherwise, all fine. I'm between Tod and Hebden Bridge tonight, should be at Tuel Lane lock tomorrow night, ready for the lockie to let me through on Wednesday. It's a beautiful canal here, but with hardly any boats, I saw one moving boat all day in around 20 lock miles, I guess it's the problems in Manchester that accounts for this.

Next week sees start of Easter Holidays...be interesting to see if things get busier up there then I hope so, firstly because it's nice to see boats moving anyway, but also because broad locks are far easier when there are two boats travelling through them. As I move further along the Rochdale there are more boats about, in ten hours travelling from Manchester we did not see one single boat, either moving or moored.

Navigation Inn at Sowerby Bridge, 5 mins walk from the wharf. The lime salmon with chili sauce has been a favourite of mine. Fried kangaroo at the Mongolian, but it's around £18/person. Is there still rubbish in the trees from the Boxing Day 2015 flood?

Oh, I found something far more interesting to do in Sowerby Bridge than eating... she was a very pretty girl too!

Went through Tuel Lane lock today. Deepest lock in the UK. Drop of 19' 8". The lockie told me it emptied 140,000 gallons of water each time it was emptied. If I've done the maths correctly this works out to about 630 tonnes. If I had to pay for that water at the average rate water companies charge to householders then my bill would be over £1,200.

That looks impressive.
Wouldn't fancy climbing that ladder, up or down.
