Carole staged a concert a while back where she included many songs written but not released or previously performed by herself. This sort of thing is common with musical genius. Bowie wrote and produced many songs and albums for other artists, perhaps notably 'All The Young Dudes' - Mott the Hoople's only real hit, and the album 'Lust For Life' by Iggy Pop. Apparently in that case Iggy wrote the music and then David penned the lyrics to fit.

Us mere mortals would be happy to write one half decent song. The real talents write so much quality they have to give it away Rog You occasionally come across figures that are truly astounding .......
Dolly Parton recorded close to a thousand songs that she had written but has written and published an unbelievable 5,000 songs !!!

I was out in the car listening to Radio 2, there was a blues show featuring this artist. I have to admit I assumed she was black. Que surprise.

A song my old man used to sing.
He was the second generation and always had comfort and nice houses later annexed by the second wife. They do say that good family money is lost by the 3rd generation and I am no exception to this rule.
Never listened to the original song. It's quite interesting as he was always humming it but never had any money problems whatsoever. Personal problems yes but money no.
Me like dis song.

Just going to post this because it takes me back to my teenage years, I guess I was about 17 when this was a thing and it brings back memories of underage drinking and playing on the pinball machine in the Keston Mark.
It was actually written by Bruce Springsteen but (in my opinion anyway) is a rare example of a cover version being better than the original.
