I tried telling that to the coppers that arrested a bloke the other day for drink driving (in his boat) under the road traffic act. They still seemed to think it applied and he got a night in the cells.

But I'm sure the "coppers" wouldn't be aware of this.

Apparently CRT are considering giving out grants to fund the retrofitting of steering wheels to narrow boats.

If your getting your information about boating from Crt, then you are trully fucked. Just think about the statement you've quoted. "On all waterways, the rule of the road" it's not a fucking road! It's a waterway. There are numerous other references to driving a narrowboat, although it's not the term I generally use. Kate boats refer to their hire fleet as "self-drive canal boats" www.kateboats.co.uk/

It still doesn't make it right. But feel free to drive and park your boat as much as you like. To me its a sympton of how the car has taken over our culture.

No, you don't park a horse because unlike a car or a boat, when you bring it to a halt and leave it, it is at liberty to move off of its own accord.

It was the use of the word parking in relation to boats that I light heartedly questioned.
