The turnout was over 70%, of those 52% voted for Brexit. Where do you get 28%? You can't include those not eligible to vote.

You and I know that we voted to leave the remainers like JC think that the group that lost really won!! My mate yesterday finally told me that labour lost, and lost badly. Given the incentives they handed out, and the poor campaign the Tories ran. The media are now making news because thats what they do bunch of shits that have got above themselves. Dont read papers anymore and the News is hard work Cameron is now bumping his gums another loser who still thinks he is something

Calm down , it's not a trumped up figure. I was quite clear, 28% of THE POPULATION voted to leave. We can present facts in whatever way we wish, as long as they are correct. (Spill chucker proposed "resent", quite apt in this thread!)

Calm down , it's not a trumped up figure. I was quite clear, 28% of THE POPULATION voted to leave. A clever statement to muddy the waters a little, but 30% "chose" not to vote. That removes them from the vote altogether, which makes your statement a bit pointless. Personally, I feel the vote to leave the EU should have been mandatory for all of voting age. I also feel that more should have been done to better inform the voters on the consequences of staying, or leaving. Ultimately, I feel the dickheads in Europe who have taken it upon themselves to become dictators, should actually be looking at brexit as a sign that they are not getting things right, and should be looking at keeping the uk in by addressing the issues that led to us wanting to leave.

IF and its a big IF he can keep his personal views separate from party policy, uphold party policy, and not use his position to alter party policy then I think his resignation is a loss to us all. Which would you rather have, a politician/party leader with strong principles but abides by the majority or one who blows with the wind and U turns at a whim?
I can see nothing incompatible in telling the media types who were plainly trying to influence the election "I personally believe xxxxx is wrong but its party policy and I intend to implement that policy or abstain from votes that are against me beliefs. However that would give the media "permission" to spin all sorts of lies and half truths.
I'd rather have him that May who seeks to get here church attendance in the media and then presides over and does not argue against the cuts that affect children - so much for "suffer the little children to come to me".
Anyway its about time we divorced the C of E from government so in time ones religion/sect became less and less important and the acts and omisions are what counted.

However I don't really agree with your point. If he considers homosexuality to be a sin and allows that opinion to become known, even if he doesn't allow it to affect his "day job", it still gives credibility to such outdated and fear/hate-based ideas. People in positions with a high public profile have a lot of influence on others further down the food chain. Plus, is someone who adamantly believes in a beardy old man sitting on a cloud, sufficiently rational to be in government? I'd say not. The DUP probably won't have any input on civil liberties / gay rights in the U.K. outside of NI, but I still resent the Maybot getting into bed with the sour faced one. Although I suppose the upside is that with all the recent publicity, everyone now knows just how full of hate and judgemental the DUP is.
