And prats who go round in 'Bob Marley / cannabis' stripey multi-coloured floppy woolly hats. Absolute cretins. Foxy, don't worry about a thing, cos every little thing will be alright. Now Get up, stand up, stop lounging about on t'internet and pack your case, time for an exodus from the concrete jungle of So'rby.

Seen earlier, not here in Sowerby Bridge. We quite like SB and the people here seem down-to-Earth.

You're thinking of Hebden Bridge. There's a funny clip on Youtube 'Welcome to Hebden Bridge' (or similar) that takes the piss out of the drugged-up hippy twerps.
HB is craft shops and 'hipsters' driving round in the latest model VW or BMW or Lexus, all pretending to 'care' - until you ask them if they can see you for the bus fare when they tell you to fuck off.
Social Security scroungers drinking in pubs who want to hug you and 'spread peace and love' as you're leaving. Why would I want to cuddle a strange bloke in a pub? That's just creepy.
Sowerby Bridge is 'rough and real'. No nonsense. Business with a genuine smile, as it's set at non-fuckin'-'holistic' prices. A bit shabby but honest. It's a gem set amongst the surrounding hills studded with stone houses that are surely occupied by sheep farmers called 'Grimshaw'. Haworth, BrΓΆnte sisters' village, just over the moors (bumpy road jewelled with burnt-out cars). The Pennine Way crossing the Rochdale Canal near Hebden Bridge. Halifax's Wainhouse Tower overlooking the still basin at the end of the Calder & Hebble. Trains to Leeds, York, Manchester and Burnley/Blackburn/Blackpool.

Hebden Bridge is the UK/Yorkshire Lesbos these days. Still infested with aging hippies and their spawn, mind you.

One too many miles coupled with a pair of shoes that had disintegrated - the bar staff even gave me table service... Edit. Just checked - Kelbrook to Hebden 19.8 miles, shoes bought and had been used to walk from Fort William. Following day was only 16.6 miles to Marsden - walked in what most people would consider slippers.

Have edited one of my posts to get the name of the pub right. I can recommend the White Lion for the caring/kind staff.

I can recommend this without reservation, unless you're subject to the ads.... Proper, full-on, once-heard-never-forgotten shizzle.... Nuff said... x
