last nights menu Smoked cod with white wine and butter beans. finely chop 1 large onion 3 sticks of celery 3 cloves of garlic (more if you really like garlic) Fry gently in a big deep sided pan until soft add 1 glass white wine, add herbs (Bay, thyme, oregano. or a good sprinkling of dried mixed Italian style herbs) reduce to about half add approx 150ml vegetable stock and 150 ml of cream (I normally use Elmlea instead) bring back to a simmer and add 2 or 3* decent sized portions of skinned smoked cod (the good stuff not the 'orrible bright yellow dyed stuff) simmer for about another 7 or 8 min depending on the thickness of the cod. season with black pepper (unlikely to need salt) serve on fluffy rice (I normally add a little garnish of either chopped baby spinach or fresh basil to add a little colour) Also works well with fresh whitefish but then probably will need salt * for number to be served ..... quantity of sauce will serve two, three or even four err...cheese sandwich and packet of crisps.....Decided to hot to cook(that was yesterdays excuse)

I'm starting to feel victimised. The other three meals came out on round white plates Thankfully the steak on top of the chopping board was excellent. Judes Ferry 10/10 for food, 0/10 for using a chopping board over a plate.

It can't go through a dishwasher so won't be washed at 55° or more. I don't mind a breadboard that's seen some action after all you only normaly slice bread on it! Sticking a meal on a chopping board just seems like a good way of leaving yourself open to giving someone a dodgy belly.q

The knife NEVER crosses to the left of the plate meal!.... It does with me because I always eat with the knife in the left hand and the fork in the right hand, which is the logical thing for right-handed people to do.

The knife NEVER crosses to the left of the plate meal!.... I would say that between a knife and a fork, the fork is the primary utensil, It pins stuff down when cutting it and carts the food from the plate to mouth. So it makes sense to me to match the primary utensil with the dominant hand, for the majority, this is the right hand, So why on earth is it etiquette to use the left hand for the fork and the right for the knife? Its just backward! Also the fork requires more dexterity in its use so again why insist on letting your left hand struggle with a task its simply not up to Its Strange when you watch people merrily munching something that only requires a fork, using it in their right hand, then swap the fork to the left when they require the assistance of a knife...I mean WTF? Since I've been able to use cutlery, the fork has always remained in my right hand, despite protests from my ex-wife that claimed I was setting a bad example to the babygirls at feeding time!🙄 Where does this backward approach come from?
