Today Debbie and I set off on our two week trip to Bedford and back home. We left Isleham around 9:45 this morning and cruised until 14:00 when we stopped for an hours lunch at the GOBA moorings at Stretham pump engine. Once refreshed, of we trundled again and are now moored up for the night at Aldreth High Bridge moorings on the Old West. We will be getting up and underway by 8:30 tomorrow to get to Earith to fill up with diesel and water, before having a good push hoping to make at least Huntingdon by tea time. We aim to be in Bedford by Wednesday tea time so we can then meander all the way home over the remainder of the holiday. Have taken some pics and will upload some tomorrow, but phone is currently flat. Boat so far performing faultlessly, although now I've said that I've probably jinxed itπ This holiday is much needed, long may the sun continue to shine as it has today.

Don't forget to go seal spotting at West View π Result with the weather, fingers crossed it holds for the next two weeks! We are back on the Nene at the Yacht club. Reasonably good trip across the levels. About an 8.5 for my entrance into Salters Lode on a spring ebb tide. Few days mooching about here then off for home Have a good un mate π’βπ»π

that's a GOBA mooring if remember rightly ........ a really peaceful spot, I stayed there in Shapfell. It felt like there was not another soul for miles.

There used to be a barn owl that hunted along the opposite bank through the trees, usually about 6pm, steangely every time we stopeed there we saw him. At the time we moored at Joneses so it was a regular stop for us.

goo.gl/photos/4ZxACm8HU1yf6mNf8These shots are from yesterday, coming into St Ives and our lunch stop at Hemingford Grey. We were up early today and are currently in St Neots where we have had breakfast, topped up with water and are now just goin to Waitrose for a few bits and pieces. Going to head for Great Barford today as the weather is supposed to be crap later. Lovely trip so far..:-)

Hemingford Grey is lovely, I stopped there both on the way up and on the way back. I see you stopped on the meadow. I was still recovering then and couldn't walk very far so I moored on the parish wall section, closer to the shop.
There really are some delightful places on the Gt Ouse. I quite fancy a return visit there sometime.

Bonehead went DOB there, queue one soggy dog, one soggy Gazza and one fits of giggles Mrs Gazza.

goo.gl/photos/Tc16FpNbo6FWHs5A7Today we cruised from Great Barford to the GOBA moorings on the outskirts of Bedford. We've had a walk into Bedford along the river to check out the last little stretch into Bedford which has some very low bridges and Bedford lock which is a tight entry. We will have to check our air draft but I think with chimney off we should be ok.

Missed this yesterday, air draft of 6' easily gets you up to the back of Queens Park, you may struggle to get to Kempston mill if the water level is as low as the Nene is at the moment. The fat John Bunyan trip boat gets into town lock, they do have a girlie button though

goo.gl/photos/z1rp53uQjeDdzaTa8Well, we made it into Bedford yesterday and moored at the only town moorings where we took on water and then went for lunch at a Mexican restaurant on the redeveloped waterfront. The mayor and a load of suits and journos were down there as it was going to be the official opening of the new development, even though it's been open for two months. I have to say, it was quite nice cruising up through the town and back. On the way back a cruiser forced its way under the low footbridge, how it didn't wreck their screen I don't know, but we informed them they had no chance of getting under the lock bridge, which was even lower still, as we only had about 6" of clearance! Just about to have some breakfast then I think we're heading back to Barford, where I fancy a spot of fishing as it was so nice.π
