Of course, these laws are all based on natural law but homosexuals have an exception. Partly because there are lots of them, relatively, backed by this all powerful modern notion of 'human rights'. Get over it, homosexuality is just as natural as heterosexuality. Many animals display homosexual behaviour. And why wouldn't they! There is no such thing as "natural law", it is your invention. Why do you have such a chip about this issue, do you find the concept of homosexuality threatening? As to your OP, marriage is an institution of the state. It is merely a question of the current state of the law. Of course with majority consent, the law could be change to allow multiple spouses. Or marriage between siblings (although for the reasons mentioned, that would be a really bad idea. Or lowering the age of consent to 10. I bet you'd like that one! But currently, there is no public appetite for such changes. Actually I'm pretty relaxed about these things. A man should be able to marry another man if he wants or even an ape, if he so chooses. What I'm a little less relaxed about is that now same sex marriages are allowed in law, it's now seen as 'right', as 'good'. If you personally disagree with this (as I said, I don't) you leave yourself open to the wrath of, and associated name calling intended to make you feel inferior, of modern day lefty Britain. It seems that almost anything can have 'human rights' tagged to it in order to close down conversations and silence anyone who may feel differently to others.

I am so disappointed. I thought the OP was going to ask why a human cannot marry a fluffy bunny or even a badger. Β Β Β Β Marriage is the first step towards divorce. Marriage is the cause of 100% of divorces

It seems that almost anything can have 'human rights' tagged to it in order to close down conversations and silence anyone who may feel differently to others. I don't think gay marriage is seen as right or good, it is just the same as heterosexual marriage. You are conflating equality with human rights. They are different things entirely. As far as I'm concerned, folk can object to gay marriage if they want to. Usually this is because of "something in the bible" and as a result, whilst I respect their right to hold that opinion, I consider them to be foolish gullible people lacking rationality. I do however object to the hijacking of the term "natural" or "unnatural". This is typically used as a smokescreen for bigotry, and of course nothing and everything is "natural". Saying that homosexuality is unnatural is less logical than saying living on a boat is unnatural. God gave use the bits to enjoy gay sex, god didn't give you the bits to live naturally on the water, such as water-wings and gills. If you believe in god, that is! And as for marriage of any gender makeup, that definitely isn't natural! The problem with "human rights" is that again, it's an unnatural man-made concept. It is often used by zealots to promote one cause or section of society whilst disregarding the effect on, or "human rights" of, other sections. Like everything, it is a good idea when used sensibly, a bad idea when taken to extremes.

Canal boaters discussing genetics. Does anyone here really know anything about the subject?

Canal boaters discussing genetics. Does anyone here really know anything about the subject? Yes. The point is that a family can carry a recessive gene for a "bad thing". A recessive gene is normally suppressed, until it breeds with another (same) recessive gene and then the bad trait manifests itself. So this is highly likely to occur with incestuous breeding, much less likely to occur with random breeding.

I don't get any of it. I don't understand it, and being honest, I don't want to. If you want to be gay, get on with it, but shuttup banging on about how proud you are to be gay. I don't think people are threatened by it, that's just a ridiculous statement. A lot of people just don't like it, and they are entitled to feel like that. Get over it.

A lot of people don't like marmite, but for some reason people don't tend to find it such an issue. As for me banging on about it, if you weren't such a thick fuckwit you'd realise that Ricco raised the subject, not me.

I think nurture (or influence from others as we grow up) is probably the biggest factor. I think there is a third factor too. Finding one's true self. That becomes more visible as we use our own heart and minds to override any programming from genes or other people. I agree with Jenlyn though, I mean, heterosexuals don't keep rubbing their sexuality into everyone's face...
