To tell you the truth I haven't taken much notice of what Boris has been saying. Does anyone? He's more an action than a words man. Jim Sillars? Now there's a blast from the past. I didn't even know he was still alive. Edited to say that I appear to be putting words in your mouth. Sorry about that. I was attempting to quote your relevant post. Read more: thunderboat.boards.net/thread/239/brexit-bit#ixzz49iGxGGSrIf you google SNP members for Brexit, you should pick up a good article from the Independent

If you google SNP members for Brexit, you should pick up a good article from the Independent So he is still alive! I agree with him that the official SNP line is hopelessly inconsistent However the various reports of his opinions all date from before the Scottish elections, so it's all pretty irrelevant now.

Our vote might be the last chance we have to show we're not before power moves further up the tree.

I tend to the "out" vote but not firmly enough that a good argument backed up by genuine facts couldn't change my mind. So far however I have not heard one argument from the "in's" that stands up to close inspection. The big frightener that they have been using, of how hard it will be if we leave, assumes that there will be no action taken by the UK government, which is frankly ridiculous. I firmly believe that very tough economic times are coming anyway, in the EU or out, so I don't think that is a valid argument anyway. I do however believe that the British economy has a better chance of weathering the storm if it maintains it's own control, rather than depending on the (lack of ?) action of a bloated monolithic entity

Should the over 60's even get a vote? They won't be the ones living with the consequences. Oddly I was discussing the EU in the pub last night with a gathering of mates, most of us retired and the others close to. We were discussing the apparent difference in attitudes in/out between the young and the ............ more mature. (in our gathering a straw pole gave 6 outs to 1 in) all of us knew of young people who were going to be voting "in". Rightly or wrongly we wondered if "scare tactics" work better on people who have no memories or experience of a Britain outside the EU. (Incidentally 60 is not old. When an aunt of mine had her house compulsorily purchased during the massive regeneration in Tyneside, she was rehomed (at 65) in a sheltered accomodation flat. ........... 42 years later mobility problems meant she had to go into a home (which she hated as she didn't have her own kitchen) she finally died at 109, Tynesides oldest resident)

I only quote his name to draw attention to the fact that there is some infighting over the SNP position on Europe. That still remains the position before and after the Eections. Its a strange position that a Nationalist Administration can't get a mandate for separation, can you think of any comparable situation?

Latest poll for the Telegraph is not putting Remain ahead amongst the over 60s which is a shitter. Still, turn up, vote and see how it lands. No, it's young people who will win it for the "remain" campaign. They'll never have a decent paying job, they'll never be able to buy a house but they'll vote to remain because Brexit is "Waycist, innit". No. The young won't win it for Remain because most of them won't vote either way. Turnout is likely to be piss poor, old people vote. They'll decide this.

Interesting you reckon turnout will be piss poor, that throws up a lot of possibilities if it proves to be the case.
