I signed into this 'cesspit of god's mistakes' in October 2016.
The forum has been going longer, and I was a 'lurker' prior to joining up.
I feel very comfortable here now, but have noticed recently that some of the regulars who's input I have enjoyed (without necessarily agreeing with) have gone quiet.
Not Telemachus of course.
So do the 'grown ups' feel that Thunderboat is becoming a serious boaty forum?

I've always treated it as a proper boating forum - minus the knobheads that ruined the one I used previously!

Might need some more recipes over the next three months as I'm at home. Don't hold back old lad. You can still chat to us lesser mortals even though you're top of the league Rog

So do the 'grown ups' feel that Thunderboat is becoming a serious boaty forum? Rog No. It remains very much a one-party state. It's impossible to have any sensible discussion because folk on here are unable to form a counter-argument, they only have enough brain cells to issue insults and swearing when they don't agree with a viewpoint. Only people with exactly the same thought processes get on. If I want sensible discussion, I go to CWDF. If I want to let off steam and have a bit of argy bargy spleen-venting I come here. And quite cathartic it can be too!

Some of us would like to throw in the odd comment or perhaps even a perfectly reasoned arguement, but there's a slight hangover from cwdf where justification for anything you might want to say is demanded and argued with ad infinitum rather than taken onboard and discussed with an open mind and some of us (can't just be me?) simply don't want that. There should probably be a full stop in there somewhere.

This comment relates to Telemachus's post. I disagree with a huge amount of the content you post on here (and CWDF) excluding your electrickery input of course.
But notwithstanding, I thoroughly enjoy your input, and often wonder why people choose to get into an 'arse kicking contest' with you when clearly you will always win. Credit where it's due.
For what it's worth, I enjoy the principle that I, and indeed everyone else can say EXACTLY what they think here.
I choose to never resort to abuse, and am always happy for the jury of other posters to judge where commonsense and truth lives, but I have no issue with those that are happy to be more 'frank'.
I have to say, that lately I have seen nothing on CWDF, that suggests that Thunderboat, as a forum, is in any way inferior.
But of course, it is others opinions that interest me.

A forum that bans it's most interesting and informative members is no use to me. It's the posters that make a forum, not some egotistical twerp with the buttons.

Rog The original intention was never to be a 'serious boaty forum', just somewhere to discuss the things that were verboten elsewhere and to let off a little steam. Members that were not permitted to post elsewhere quickly asked for a boaty section to be added and people started discussing boats and shit here. For some of us it is the only place we can get decent advice on boaty matters as we are banned from CWDF and Facebook groups seem to be pretty terrible when it comes to getting any sort of technical advice.

Your inability to form a counter argument doesn't really relate to where you post it, its just on here you get a more forthright opinion.....

I have no wish to appear sycophantic.
Nevertheless I remain very grateful to you for opening this clique of chip shouldered, sweary, bigoted weirdos.
Is it coincidence that Telemachus seems to routinely come up with such beautiful and poetic descriptions of us as a collective?
Thank you delta9.

Cheers, but I have done pretty much nothing to forward this forum. It only exists because a few wierdos decided to start posting shit here

We trialed a golden syrup cake recipe yesterday, needs a tweak to temperature and time, tasted nice though! Will get it right then bung it up Re Saints: 500 lines of I'm not counting chickens, I'm not counting chickens....

No. It remains very much a one-party state. Could you explain what you mean by this and why you think that? I'm not disagreeing, just interested. I mean it is the main populated by a certain type of person with a certain viewpoint and politics. Other types of person are not tolerated and their right to hold a different viewpoint not granted. Of course it doesn't stop a few misfits like me joining in, but it is not for the faint hearted!
