Ok, staff room was perhaps the wrong analogy. Primary classroom would probably have been better.

I see this place as the real virtual pub, where dogs are welcome - and I like dogs The virtual pub in the other place is more of a members club. At one stage it was more of a primary teachers staff room, but it has loosened up a bit with Athy as doorman. Here we go again-primary teachers'staffroom. You'll have to tell me what one of those is like,as when I retired in 2014 after 35 years of teaching-I'd not been in mine for years due to being too busy marking in year 6.I do wonder why primary teachers get picked on,as loads of us are crackers, not boring & not at all bossy.(My husband might not agree with the last part of the commentπ). My Primary School teacher was great - Mrs Packham (think her name was Kate - it is 30 years ago!) I've forgotten the names of most of my Senior school teachers, but never forgot her, a truly brilliant teacher (and a bit crackers to boot )

So broadly similar to CWDF then? Possibly, but this place is worse for it! I think it's a shame that behaviour on here limits membership to those pretty thick skinned Β and has resulted in the loss of a few valuable and very pleasant and sensible contributors. I'm thinking for example of haggis, for whom I have a soft spot. She's no shrinking violet in the flesh but found this warground too much to bear. Warground? That's a bit extreme isn't it? So to put it briefly we have a "Wargound of god's chip shouldered weirdo lab rat mistakes" Sounds ideal

I'm thinking for example of haggis, for whom I have a soft spot. She's no shrinking violet in the flesh but found this warground too much to bear. That is the drawback, that much is true! The odd time I've looked at CWDF after someone has posted a link her it has struck me that for the holier than thou bollocks it's no better, if not worse than here, the bullying, intimidation and pack mentality that goes on is pretty shit tbh. I agree. they are actually very simular. the main two differences I see it's a bit politer over there. And two. here at least posts are honest and open over there many hide the bullying and arguing in a snidey way, that just about keeps them onside of the rules. there are often far worse remarks allowed on the so called family forum than there is here. over there if you make a newby remark you are often either shot down or called a sock puppet. here I find we actually help those people learn and encourage them to post more.myself being one. their only claim of being more boaty and experty is because they have a bigger membership to call upon. there are people here I would love to meet up for a beer or two. I can't think of anyone over there that I could say the same about.

I went to a couple of canal world banters a few years ago.
Both on the Oxford canal (Napton and Thrupp) and I mostly interacted with one or two other boaters who I already knew from the Oxford area as I previously used to be a bit of an Oxfordshire person (Henley, Abingdon and Oxford etc)
One thing about this forum is there is a very diverse range of contributors in geographical terms. Ranging from Southampton to Aberdeen and even some furriners !
Then there is the obvious issue that people move about. I am aware of one member who used to be based in a "I never move my boat" type mooring in Essex and now I see he's in Yorkshire! Yorkshire !!
It'd be good to get everyone in the same room (or maybe not?) but geographically its a real headache.

Other than the 10kg of gold I located last week near Heathrow airport not a lot to be honest.

The question that springs to mind when continually reading Nick slag thunderboat off, is why does he bother reading or posting here if he dislikes it so much.

As with the netsite 'People of Walmart' perhaps Nick could start his own site 'People of Thunderboat' and follow us around and take pictures of us with our trousers half-hanging down or our beer bellies hanging out over our belts. Is it not a bit 'schizophrenic' coming here and dishing out vulgarities then creeping back to Canalworld and pretending ice wouldn't melt in your mouth? www.peopleofwalmart.com/No, it's called "when in Rome..."

The question that springs to my mind whilst you personally attack and insult me at every opportunity, is why do you bother reading my posts if you dislike them so much?
