River level at York has just hit the 1.9 metre mark meaning flooding possible water just starting to creep onto the quayside

Sabina looks terrific. Take care tonight. Rog ETA forecast suggests dry for the next few days at least I have York rescue boat tied up next to me, and if it gets too high for them to moor to the wall they are going to use me as a pontoon. I have three heavy lines ashore plus a chain. Two 12 foot steel poles dangling over the side so if she gets higher than the quay they will stop me drifting over it. About half the width of Queens Staith is now covered and they are forecasting another half metre to go, expecting to peak at about 11.30. Don't anticipate any real problems as have plenty of bread milk teabags and beer

How's life in York today? Hope the levels are dropping. Rog Yes they are well on the way down now .... about 1.5 metres down from the peak. I will stay on Queens Staith today but I am going to collect the car and have a look at the pontoon at Naburn as I might move there if it looks like flooding again (It's likely with that ex bloody hurricane going past, if that drops more rain on the Dales ) I had better move somewhere before I get any complaints about me overstaying on 48 hour moorings So tomorrow (depending on levels and forecasts) I might move up to Marygate (just below the Scarborough rail bridge) I Have been talking to John Dean this morning about his offer of a free mooring alongside at his drydock in Hull for the worst of the winter and I think I will probably head there next month.

A free mooring sounds like a result.

Queen's Staith is a public wharf owned by York City Council and they alone are able and entitled to impose any time limits or conditions on mooring there. C&RT's powers to control moorings, on rivers or canals, are strictly confined to mooring against land under their control or stewardship, ie. such as canal towpaths and riverside/canalside land acquired by the original navigation proprietors, and they have absolutely no powers or control over mooring to public or private land.
