Thanks for the pics Cygnus. I've been thinking of having my foredeck raised to provide more acconodation space under it so I always like pictures of boats with that sort of design. Ta. It started out as a Narrowboat style Widebeam. I believe it was sold unfinished and the next owner morphed it into the boat you see. It's about 11ft wide, 60ft long.

Only thing is it looks a bit awkward for bridgeholes if it ventured further inland. I suppose being 11ft its not too wide.

I was thinking of the railings around the outside of the front and rear decks they look like they would catch on bridgeholes. The wheelhouse is pretty narrow so I don't think its that vulnerable plus its central.
I've not been up in that area so maybe there aren't bridgeholes like we get on the Grand Union and Regents.

The bridge holes aren't the same up north, till you get onto the L&L then there are some similar to the ones you mention. Even then at 11ft wide it would be alright probably.

I really like Vulcan's colour scheme. If I ever get round to repainting my barge I would like to do the topsides like that. It just looks "right" to me and also paint top half of wheelhouse white.
