Well it's that time of year again and I've just nearly severed and artery opening my tea. Don't you think they'd have got health and safety johnny in and sorted the bloody lids out by now? Do love em though! goo.gl/images/C4EGQk

Dad is partial to an occasional Fray Bentos pie too. Not for me! Although I do like Mr Brains Faggots, only get the chance to eat em when Dad visits as Mrs Gazza can't stand them! Ohh now you're talkin....Brains Faggots.........that's tomora sorted......any more suggestions? Tell ye what though. I was on Leigh market last week and fancied doing a tater ash. Do you know cow heel is 6 quid a pound! Kin ell they give it away when I was a kid The price wouldn't put me off TBH Frozen mince beef is £5 for 2 x 800g bags at the moment....

Before 1975 i thought that chinese food was Vesta chow mein.
I always buy a couple of boxes whenever i see them. Fray Bentos pies are also purchased as a treat. Its the pastry that makes em.
One thing I do miss is those small Goblin meat Puddings. Nom nom nom

Reason I ask is because I was in a poundland shop a while ago and they had things in there that were more than a pound. I was extremely offended by this and stamped my feet. I noticed the flooring was a bit knackered so I was probably not the first person to see through their sly advertising.
They also have things for less than a pound which is almost more offensive.

Holland's Pies are a local "delicacy", made in Baxenden. My dad started a family tradition, spot the dog in Baxenden, when we were travelling through. We never saw any!

Princes make a similar tinned pipe and Morrisons sell them for £1 instead of about £2.45 for the genuine article. Absolutely no comparison - if youw ant a gravy pie but Princes! If you want some meat then the genuine ones.

From Wiki..
"Tinned meat products, including Fray Bentos, now have a down-market image.[6] According to The Financial Times, Fray Bentos products "may engender sneers" but they also have a "cult following" in the UK.[5] Baxters describes Fray Bentos as "an iconic British brand".[4]"
Cult following? Erm really?
