I've not been on the Huddersfield narrow but I did once go on the Rochdale. Beautiful canal I have to admit. Both my steel boats were built at Todmorden but managed to take a road trip and end up in London

Started writing a career history but it got too long and boring !!! farm labourer, shop assistant, builders labourer, two and a half years college, Marine radio, electronics and Radar maintenance qualified. 11 years marine electronics officer Merchant Navy, development engineer for electronics firm, designer for same firm, part time technician for cabaret gigs (worldwide) roadie for dance bands (still doing some cabaret work) sorted out totally banjaxed telephone exchange system in a Docklands office ending up by sorting out the whole wiring system (phone and data) in a five story office block that had been totally messed up by an incompetent contractor. This led through contacts made there, to office electrical and data contracting becoming an authorised installer for three manufacturers of data cabling systems (including fibre) ended up as sole contractor for an insurance company for 16 years (must have been doing something right ! ) Packed it all in when the company was bought out by Cardif (Huge French conglomerate .... one of the biggest insurance groups in the world) Now occasionally do odd jobs on commercial vessels (mostly tugs) but not often

I had originally intended to become a lecturer in Geology at a University, but can't see that happening now. Geology is still an interest and I had 9 months off work '97-'98 to take part in a one-off college course in mid-Finland which dealt with the use of natural stones, and this is when I did my survey into Finland's stone industry, visiting many quarries and stone firms and processing plants and recording it all. Quite happy with what I'm doing for the moment. No-one else drives my route, empty roads, pleasant scenery, no boss breathing down my neck. Have no idea what happens after Summer 2018, but will probably still be employed by this company. Could buy a longer narrowboat in future and live on it for a few years? Pennine Way and other long-distance footpaths on my 'things-to-do' list (Pennine Way for Sept-Oct 2019 before we are too old & rusty?). Lots of other ideas for future travel, eg. driving round North-West USA, cycling the length of Japan, having a look at New Zealand. I was wandering across Delios a few weeks ago and lamented loudly that I needed a geologist to explain all the wonderful rock formations I saw..the guy next to me admitted it was a passion of his and he described all the rocks and why they were as they were...fascinating..I then said about the Worms Head and the rocks around the bay and he knew all about them as well...Its a really interesting topic....the rocks round the Worms head and Rhossilli Bay are fab and I ofter just roam looking and wishing it was a subject I had studied. Im also keen to walk the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast and round Wales...I just gotta persuade myself that the Worm is not the only place to go!

I'm sure I've gorn through this earlier (or perhaps it was on Canalworld?). In a nutshell: Worked on a farm in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire-Hedgehog countryside, two Summers '76 & '77 Unloading lorries, about two per day, at Glaxo Pharmaceuticals, Ware, Herts for about 3 months then was offered job in Quality Control - checking packaging for drugs, measuring drug doses of asthma inhalers. '80 & '81 Summers - painting in chemical plants near Cologne, Germany (5 weeks in McDonalds first, by the Hauptbahnhof, spitting in hamburgers). Evening shift 6pm-2am dealing with incoming buses Hertford bus garage - 1982. Same at Hatfield bus garage 1983-85. Driving buses from Hertford garage 1986-90. Postman Jan '90 - July '90 in Hertford. Helsinki City Transport - service side (tanking & parking buses) 7am - 4pm 5 months, bus driving school Helsinki 1991 Jan-Mar (3 months), then 20.5 years carting people round Helsinki and Greater Helsinki. Sept 2011 - July 2013 extremely busy being unemployed 3 months driving kids Himanka/Lohtaja to schools in Kokkola. Nov 2013 - present, working for Pohjolan Matka bus company: Himanka-Kalajoki route, since April 2016 Kannus-Eskola/Tokola/Lohtaja route. I had originally intended to become a lecturer in Geology at a University, but can't see that happening now. I'm a semi-retired porn actor. I feel bad about lying. I'm an honest sort of person. I've never done porn acting and I have never worked for the government or anyone else (except a dodgy Indian) Truth is that I came into some money when I was 18 partly on account of a plane crash which killed a wealthy relative (true). I have never worked (well I had a paper round) but also never spent much money. over the last 25 years I have lived on about the same or less than what state benefits would pay a single person but its my own money.

Ah, but are they lies and MI6 the truth. After all 'you would say that wouldn't you'. A good agent will recognise the echoes of Profumo Rog
