I would just like to say that in all this discussion, NOT ONE PERSON has come to the defence of the horse that probably is feeling very down knowing what we think it's arse looks like.
Added - had I posted it bit quicker I would have been right, now I must edit my post and say ONLY ONE person defended the poor horse.

My brother in law was pontificating about the dress sense and hair style of Theresa May the other day, and not in a kind way. It struck me that we gentlemen are exceptionally fortunate to rarely be held to ridicule on such superficial and senseless grounds. The joke hit the same sore spot, so I felt compelled to comment. I know it was just a joke, and Abbot has worse to contend with but it was the general principle which seemed unkind. Rog To be fair Corbyn took a bit bit of a battering and so does Boris. Actually they both look like they have taken a bit of a battering in the physical sense Phil

Corbyn's actually shagged her. And I thought I had low standards.

Because, if you read my post properly - or even briefly! - you will see that I was referring to the general sustained abuse she suffers, which includes racism. It’s not all about you! But you are jumping on a fairly unpleasant bandwagon with your small contribution, and that is why I’m calling it out. Identifying someone under sustained attack and joining in with your tuppenceworth is like the playground weaklings who wait whilst the big boys beat someone up, then when they are incapacitated on the ground, swoop in to give their kicks before running back and hiding behind the bicycle sheds tittering and knickers wet with the thrill of it. Not big or clever! All that said, I’m not saying you shouldn’t have done it, but I am saying that it will be identified for what it is. You do realise that ridiculing and lampooning politicians is neither a new thing nor restricted to Diane Abbott? I think any lampooning of politicians should be based on their performance as a politician, not their god-given physical attributes. Using the fact that other people do something as a justification for doing it yourself is never a good attitude. In your case you could for instance try using this as a defence when you are finally caught stabbing a prostitute: “But please sir, everyone knows that stabbing prostitutes is what lorry drivers do for a pastime” and see if that makes it all alright.

You've never heard of a satirical TV series called "Spitting Image" then?

There’s a subtle but important difference.

The Farcebook generation surround themselves with like minds and become intolerant of any dissenting views. Social media presents a paradise for the playground coward to launch very nasty attacks from behind the screen of anonymity. But that doesn’t mean any of it is a good thing. The rules changed when the third reich came to power, was that a good thing with the resistors being fuddy duddies? Being courteous will never go out of fashion. It is only because the uneducated chavvy plebs have found a voice in the internet that we are in this pickle. Personally I think a public school education should be a prerequisite for internet access.

But since there is no racial element to the photo in question, which simply showcases a woman's shortcomings in conforming to classical standards of beauty, why have you introduced the race card? Because, if you read my post properly - or even briefly! - you will see that I was referring to the general sustained abuse she suffers, which includes racism. It’s not all about you! There’s a subtle but important difference. Well, just two examples off of the top of my head, it could be argued that grossly exaggerating Roy Hattersley's speech impediment or stereotyping all white South Africans as dislikeable racists was nasty. The simple fact is that Diane Abbott has become extremely wealthy by means of sucking from the public teat, and is therefore fair game for being the butt of the public's jokes. I'd feel uncomfortable with outright racism or threats of violence being directed towards her, but simply flagging up her extreme ugliness is fair game, not least because much of her external ugliness emanates from within.

Sorry just caught up with the thread, Nick your a pompous ass sometimes . To compare what mr stabby said about Diana abbot to rascism is a complete overreaction. Anybody in the public eye should expect a certain amount of satryical scrutiny, which is not to be confused with rascism or death threats these are something else entirely.

I realise that reading isn’t one of your better skills but I didn’t compare mr stabby’s post with racism or death threats. I said that whilst in isolation it was a bit of fun (and it did make me laugh), in the context of the full gamut of what she is on the receiving end of, it wasn’t nice.

Surely though, if it made you laugh and yet it wasn't nice, then by extension you aren't nice?

Diane Abbott on Countdown. She was only 62 points away with 438.
