I hope you get good weather for Caen hill. I went down Caen Hill in 2001 and up in 2002 (wintered around Bradford on Avon) but on way down there was a huge fire at a scrapyard so smoke everywhere and on the way up it was foggy ! (Scrapyard fire was in the paper the yard is still there near bottom of the flight. www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/7365279.Blaze_destroys_scrapyard_cars/?ref=arc)Its a great flight of locks. Enjoy.

Is the round vent below the glass adjustable? I've never used a diesel stove like that but on solid fuel stoves that controls the air to the fire. Might be the same with a diesel?
I'd find how to operate diesel stoves an interesting topic on here as I am considering a natural draught (refleks) heater for one of my boats but no idea how they are controlled.

There is a hole in the stove on the inside but I've tried turning it with no success.

Will try again tonight. Perhaps start one end and slowly adjust in one direction.

This is the best I could manage. I do feel it needs a proper clean out and will have to bring a proper Hoover up and clear all the shit our of the bottom and all the holes. I hope that will be enough to sort it out. Regarding the webasto it runs perfect all day when the engine is running but won' stay on during the evening or night. Not an issue s the driver works but could that be either another cleaning job giving it a service or a battery issue or even somehing completely different.

Your last picture is pretty good for the Bubble flame pattern. Unless you have a very well insulated flue about 10 ft high, you are not likely to get much better. Is your chimney double skinned? If so, is the space between the skins insulated? It all helps get a better flue (or natural) draught.

I have a double skinned chimney which helps but mine does burn clean blue make sure the balance plate at the rear is free as well

I hope that will be enough to sort it out. If you don't give you stove the best chance it will burn as blue as possible, then you'll have to start by a thorough cleaning of the inside, all the holes have to be open to gat the air it need to the flame. Btw the flame that shows in your last picture is fairly good, but could probably be slightly better once everything is cleaned out. Another nice job for you to do, which can then be added to the list of things you can do for your future clients later Peter.

This wind certainly gives my kerosene burning Bubble a lovely glow 👍

This wind certainly gives my kerosene burning Bubble a lovely glow 👍 Blue isn't a colour I associate with "glow". Is that a learned response?

thanks to Andy's post in Lollygaggers coolant thread, it reminded me of some good news the other day.
During half term the kids went with Nanny to the boat and I popped up to take it over and empty the toilet tank and to spin it around so the FIL could paint the other side.
whilst there I had a little play as there are new leisure batteries on board. In the elctical/broom cupboard is a switch. like a lights with with a Amber light. we have played with it before to see what it did but never found out.
well that time I turned it on and went outside and hears the diesel heater fire up, so tried a few more times for confirmation and it does turn it on and off without the timer control being on.
result. a now fully functioning heater.
the bubble stove now works quite well, we have cleaned it out and have now got fresh fuel in the tank. much better.
just in time for summer.👍
thank you everyone for your help.
