Is that because the crime is worth the time. People will keep on committing crime such as theft and burglary as the chance of getting caught are low and when they are finally caught they can do a small stretch and then cone out and carry on. They don't mind going to prison it's a small inconvenience A local bod, financial advisor, fleeced loads of little old ladies (many of whom wouldn’t testify against him cos “he is such a nice man”) got 9 years for fraud, however very little of the £7 million he filched was ever recovered. He was likely out in 5 years so that’s not a bad deal, how many of us are likely to make £7 million in that time?

The person my ex wife ran off with under the promise of untold riches was sentenced to 28 months a few years ago for fraud and generally proving what a dummy he is...did 12 months and 12 months on tag! Same sort of tale to above, many people wouldn't give evidence due to fear of looking daft / stupid etc. Ex Mrs-C, looking ravishing with her pixelated face, enjoying a romantic day out at Liverpool Crown Court!😂😂 www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/6968483/Fake-vet-jailed-for-two-years.html

I see the M25 rapist who was given 7 life terms less than 14 years ago is being considered for parole.

The position the government has taken on this might come back to bite them on the ass. If the Parole Board followed governmental guidelines, then who is to blame for early release? I have no doubt that the Parole Board is under pressure to release early to relieve prison over crowding.

These creepy men know what to say and how to groom people..he got away with his crimes for so long ..yeah I know women were drunk and drugs used but he must have seemed 'safe' and trustworthy to be able to carry on for as long as he did... There are men who charm and hoodwink people in all walks of like....

The real problem is lenient sentencing.

no real surprises with that one..... would open can of worms if they succeeded...Any decision could be challenged. They'll leave it up to Joe Public to crowd fund and shoulder cost of what could be seen to be colossal c... up.

The real problem is lenient sentencing. And the fraction of the sentence that is served. (One of my former parishioners was sentenced to 8 years for drug dealing. He was out after 18 months, which , to my mind, made a mockery of the original sentence. )

Best thing would be for more women to come forward and investigate. If guilty, more prison time.
