I think they key to driving should be enjoying the journey but with modern motorways and modern vehicles it has been sanitised too much. The ideal speed for my car (Saab 95) is around 95mph (that's why its called a 95). Its a boring car but very comfortable and effective at this sort of speed on less busy trunk roads and motorways. If I had a sports car I would probably drive it slower and enjoy the driving. But with modern quiet cars the enjoyment seems to be in the efficiency of short travel time. I don't commute I just occasionally use car for long journeys and for visiting my yot in Monaco.

Any speed is safe until something goes wrong. 70mph is bad enough for that, 100mph is too fast - what's the hurry? I don't disagree entirely . 100 is too much but 80. That's fine. I drive a Citroen xsara it's sits comfortably at 70 but go over that it's bouncing of all the bumps and stuff and a bit wobbly in wind. So wouldn't be safe at any speed. My knees are a foot back from my front panel, no crumple zones, no air bags. The rattly nature of it constantly reminds me of imminent death or serious injury.

I uses to love my a4 and my Passat. Wonderful cars for long distance driving. They both made the trip from Southampton to Skye easy and comfortable. Steady 80 munching the miles
Doubt I would take the Picasso though.
Generally I drive with fuel consumption All three of the cars had excellent mpg

Morons are not safe at any speed. Cars don't drive themselves but have ape-like creatures behind the steering wheel. Come with me on any motorway and we'll see some cretins very shortly. I find those that swerve from slow to middle to fast lane weaving in and out really scary. They are complete idiots and have no regard or respect for other road users...

When the traffic slows down in one lane and cars just pull into another with no regard for traffic that is still moving in that lane. Bonkers. That's is exaggerated when the lane they are in is totally still even of the lane next to them has slowed down. A car pulling out at 5mph is a massive hazard. Should be shot.

Would be bad enough if they pulled out and then put their foot down ....... but they don't, they just bloody dawdle off

Should scrap all speed limits, let people decide on what they feel is safe!
If dopey pedestrians want to step into the road in front of a chugging VW camper van doing 40mph...tough!!

Is it a Picasso? I always think of this when I see one. It certainly is. I was hoping it would be one of these. www.pistonheads.com/regulars/ph-features-sheds/shed-of-the-week-citroen-xsara-vts/28080But tbh I was already pretty certain it would be a Bryn mobile The late great Colin McRae in a WRC Xsara reunited with his championship winning co driver Derek Ringer. This is Rally NZ. Sadly the success wasn't there for Colin and it wasn't long until he turned his back on the WRC.

Idiots drive in the middle lane. It helps us identify them. Law says drive in the leftmost lane. Simple. Then when towing I don't have trouble getting past, I'm not allowed in the outside lane so can't overtake the idiot driving in the middle lane on an empty motorway. Without the caravan, I will cut sharply across the back, flash lights, then cut sharply across the front, back to the inside lane, as I should. Idiots are usually oblivious, continuing with only one hand on steering wheel, while fiddling with the other!

must admit crawlers in middle lane irritate almost as much if not more than crawlers in fast lane....fortunately I've only come across a few of the latter

If you are driving on the inside lane and someone is hogging the middle, you are fine to pass them on the inside. Changing lane to overtake on the inside is different to continuing on the lane you are already in and passing them.
