Right painting...I reckon I'm really qualified to comment on this topic.... I painted all the bits on my boat when i owned her that scraped off in Braunston Tunnel..plus the engine hole and the gas cylinder part...plus front deck etc etc I painted all the fences and summerhouse here at Horror House I painted all the metal gates here at Horror House I painted kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, front porch(x 3) here at Horror House... Sometimes I spent noodles of time in preparation..sometimes I just slapped on whatever You know finished result don't seem to be any different no matter how much effort it took..... Now HATE HATE painting...but cheaper than getting in Mr A N Other so I grits my teeth and gets on with it... that reminds me first dry day gonna get all the fences and summerhouse redone....that'll save a summer job...

Foam Emery pads, 4inch foam roller with concave ends, Rustoleum combicolour paint, tub of elbow grease and hardest to source, a round tuit. Combicolour goes straight onto bare metal, no undercoat, covers well, has synthetic fish oils in it that stop rust. Was told about it by a Mini fanatic.

It is said:- If you can piss you can paint. The person who invented decorating wants fucking. The person who invented fucking wants decorating. There must be hell of a lot of boaters with urinary tract infections then, judging by the average boat you see on the waterways.

I brush painted my first boat and spray painted the second both turned out well. I tend to spray blacking nowdays as its easier than brushing and in my case its purely cosmetic on top of the zinger. Professionally the best boat painter I have seen is Shane from Castleford marine the finish is Rolls Royce quality!!!! There was a narrowboat in here that had a paint job from Cass. It looked mint, apparently it cost 12 grand. He took it back twice for some small bits rectifying, but it did look a good job. We were talking to some mates in their yard and I noticed they were spraying in the shed.

I'm good at blacking and ok at scumbling but pretty crap at actual painting...my red handrails have only lasted 2 yearsππ I really do admire your scumbling, that looks very professional. Peter.
