It's fairly obvious and reasonably well known that he is further along the autistic spectrum than most of the rest of us, but I don't think that is a reason to ridicule him. Takes one to know one, Nick ! I can't speak for others, but I ridicule him because I think he's a spineless, vapouring little turd that the world would be a better place without. Didn't expect you to hold back on what you really think about him Tony😄...😄

It does heal up, Patty, every 3 - 4 weeks, but then it almost immediately pops up again where it had healed up from previously. It's been going on for nearly three years, and I'm bloody sick of it, but at least it's now confined to these two small areas on my right foot. A couple of years back it was affecting both feet (right one worst) and lower legs, and my right leg to above the knee. The medics were predicting that I'd lose the right one to above the knee back then, but as the NHS had ruled out prescribing a wooden leg and a parrot I kept well away from anyone wearing a white coat and carrying a saw ! When was the last time you had your blood sugar tested? Fairly recently, Martin, it's been done umpteen times since this problem started and come out as OK every time. There have also been a lot of tissue samples and swabs taken from the affected areas which just keep coming back as - "multiple colonization by unidentified bacterial [something or others]''. Various antibiotic treatments have been tried, including two lots of intravenous antibiotics injected over several hours in 20 minute doses by way of a machine driven syringe of the size you'd normally expect to see used on a horse by a vet.

I must remember to try to be more understanding and nicer to you. The old ones are always the stubborn ones. (I know this topic as I was diagnosed (professionally) with AS at the age of 25). It is a bit dodgy remotely diagnosing other people. but very very tempting ! I'm not saying you are right - that would be for professionals to decide. And yes dhutch has previously announced on canalworld that he has a diagnosis of AS.

I guess seems as if they've searched for a cause....I've nursed couple of people with similar tracking infections which is why I ask..they weren't diabetic .....

Not being completely sure of what ' A S ' is, I tried 'Googling' it and came up with this :- Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a long-term (chronic) condition in which the spine becomes inflamed.. . . . which makes it something to which the esteemed proprietor of CWDF would be blessed with a natural immunity.

AS in this instance ....Aspergers Syndrome The lesser end of the Autistic spectrum also known as high functioning. At the opposite end of the spectrum those afflicted are often non-verbal and self tied to some very demanding behaviours (for the carers) These can be things like having rituals for everyday things like having to turn round several times before passing through a door, extreme OCD, smearing, extreme tantrums which means the sufferer needs to be restrained. All in all a very challenging condition to cope with. Phil

A lot of the people she cares for have AS and some exhibit very challenging behaviour, as in very challenging. Personally I take my hat off to her as I don't think I could do it. As a general Nurse my thing was to look after people with physical ailments, looking after somebody with these types of conditions, and to do it well takes a very special person.

trouble is that nowadays you can't just extract a penny from your pocket, give it some expert attention with a ballpene hammer and ..... voila !!! ................. a rustproof core plug for early Ford engines (should add that it works for BMC's as well but I only have had to do it on the little Ford based engines) That brought back old memories. I was given a primary school prize back in 1957 or 9, called “The Black Penny” by Alan Drake; the story line featured an old penny mocked by more valuable coins in a boy’s money box. On a trip to take the money box [in the shape of a ship] sailing on a river, the car over-heated and the penny saved the day. It ended up being gilded as a reward and was deferred to by grovelling mere silver coins, until the penny revealed himself – with the usual moral tale. What a great little story that is Nigel, thanks for posting it. Peter.

What a great little story that is Nigel, thanks for posting it. Peter. Yes – 60 years on and it was still imprinted firmly! I just had to dash out to the boat and check it was still in my library; found it immediately. They not only made it to the river, they hired a boat and towed the ship money box behind.
