I had it all planned out !!! Promised to do a little electrical job in the docks workshop, so took all the tools and bits and pieces up there earlier, so I could start first thing in the morning. After two morning cups of tea, raring to start, I arrive at the workshop door ...... to find the bloody padlock wont unlock !!! On the phone got "I noticed it were getting a bit temperamental, busy at moment so keep trying" (not as brusque but you get the idea) I tried off and on for the next hour or so before wandering off in disgust. The thing that really pisses me off, is that I have a little electrical job that needs sorting out on board ...... but where are my tools? .... you've got it !!! I guess I'm going to have to make a start on the often long put off avoided HATED housework

WD40 is good for locks.
What sort of padlock is it? Loads of videos on YouTube about picking and shimming padlocks.
Or a cordless angel grinder of course but that's a bit destructive.

Yep - get someone to cut it off, and get a new padlock.
If you can't think of anything else, take a photo of it and post it here to keep us amused.

If it's any consolation I'm not in littleport today, ended up being called into work all day yesterday, so our planned visit to our friends (and my best man) had to be shoved back to today. Oh well, one more week shouldn't hurt, the only slight relief is that dad isn't back off his hols to early Sunday week so I can get it done before he's back. He sends his regards BTW π»π’π

If it won't open with the key then its probably worth destroying it unless it just needs oiling. I found a nice strong CISA padlock with the magnet - it had the key in it ad it was captive when open. Anyway a good squirt of wd40 and it worked OK. Does occasionally get stiff which means a bit more wd40. I'm sure i'm teaching my grandma to suck eggs !

That'd occupy you lot coming up with ideas on 'how to break and enter'...may even prevent the Willy enhancement thread from descending further into murky realms

Who me?...As if.... Though on a more serious note... I studied a very fascinating topic as part of my degree(never finished degree as life at home disintegrated ) ..it concerned 'mens' issues(to put it delicately)...and what they put themselves through to enhance what nature had supplied...very interesting..read brilliant book by an American regarding the extreme measures he went to.

WD40 can go a little gummy over time, GT85 may be better if there's a can around. www.google.co.uk/search?q=gt85+locksWD40 is a bit crap really, 'better than nothing but not much better' (there ya go, stirred the hornets nest )
