Sweet!
Where did you get the retro lino? I haven't seen a piece like that since my grandparents house on Gloucester in the 80's!

Try and angle the discharge pipe so that your shower water goes over the shoes of people walking along the towpath.

Try and angle the discharge pipe so that your shower water goes over the shoes of people walking along the towpath. That would be okay for someone like Mr Stabby who almost certainly showers with a decent weapon nearby. I would not personally wish to take the risk of a random stranger boarding the boat and challenging me while naked due to them getting their feet wet. Well... I suppose if it was an attractive young woman it might work out OK. Actually it's quite a good idea

It has been stuck to the baseplate with some type of adhesive by a previous owner and I have no idea why. It would probably be better to rip it off, I might do that tomorrow (or maybe it is covering up a big hole and is the only thing preventing it from sinking )

Is it to make leaks easier to detect?

Here is the rather half-arsed arrangement in question. Probably not actually given the original pump was in a plastic bowl anyway. Its something to do with not wanting to place objects directly on the baseplate.

Or the original owner was very tall and used lino direct on base plate as the floor. This is a bit which survived.

I like the razor sharp 'not cut off flush' black cable tie on the green pipe... Perfectly positioned to cause ultimate 'gash' injury to hands / wrists next time you or anyone else is rooting down there!

To be fair, there aren't many who make the effort to do that, I always do, a hangover from preparing the dirt bikes more than anything.

Full '10 point audit fail, serious Health and Safety hazard' (the worse fail possible) on any of our cabling jobs for leaving just 1 sharp tie... Results in trip back to site to rectify it, however far it is and severe bollocking!
I ended up paying Β£38 for a pair of Knipex flush cut wire cutters as the standard cable tie cutters you can buy are crap and a razor sharp Rambo knife with compass in the handle (whilst good for maiming scrotes) cant really cut it!
