I don't do houses myself but I couldn't help noticing a link to a large house with canal online mooring. (Bedworth - I think its on the Coventry canal). I found the link on canalworld. This thing m.primelocation.com/for-sale/property/bedworth/bulkington-road/I am truly shocked by how unbelievably horrible the inside renovation is. I'm not easily shocked but this does it for me. Bad. but putting that aside I suppose its a big house, a lot of (narrow) canal mooring so could possibly be made to work as something like a hotel, an inn? Maybe a pub.

Often stare at it when passing, was put up for sale last year. Not sure what you look for in a house but I think it’s banging, huge rooms snooker table and bar plus mooring for the boat, what more do you need!
Mrs got married in it when it was a pub

The link doesn't work for me, but I think this may be the old pub that was 'gentrified' a few years ago.
Looks very smart as you pass by at bridge 14 on the Coventry, just north of Hawkesbury.
It is big, but I'm surprised at the price.

Asking price £1,250k.
Unless you have a big family or extended family its just too big. I lived in a considerably larger house than this between the ages of 6 and 11 (1980-1986). A country house with 3 floors and 8 bedrooms in East Sussex and my memory of it is that we (family of 5) were just rattling about in it and getting lost in the large gardens. I much prefer smaller spaces but that's personal preference I suppose at the end of the day. If I wanted a house I would go for 3 bedrooms as I have two children.
I hate the interior chaviness of this particular conversion but that's also personal and can probably be undone to an extent.
Might be a candidate for conversion into two separate units I think.
I like snooker.

No good for me, wouldn't fit in a narrow lock. Probably wouldn't even float.

If I won the lottery... (not that I actually do the lottery)...perhaps I could use my charms/knife to interest a rich widow in my plans... There is only one house in the entire country that I would be interested in buying, and that is Ellen's Court, at Lady Margaret Manor, in Kent. I stayed there as a teenager when it was part of the YHA network and thought it was the most beautiful building I had ever been in. It was built as an oast house, at the turn of the 20th century it was the home of Dr Josiah Oldfield, founder of the Fruitarian Society, it's a care home now and subsequent renovations have seriously detracted from the aesthetics but I am sure I could put those right.

The inside is pretty hideous. Too much money, no taste. “All the gear and no idea” springs to mind.

Bit like a Hudson then (humour in case it gets lost)

Isn't it pretending to be something that it isn't?

Isn't it pretending to be something that it isn't? What, you mean like a boat with fake rivets?

Isn't it pretending to be something that it isn't? What, the house or the boat? If the boat, what is it pretending to be? And also, what is the house pretending to be that it isn’t?

Nick; I've got a load of date expired 4 1/2" and 9" metal grinding discs you can have - nothing wrong with them, perfectly safe to use, but company policy says they have to go.
Half a day with a grinder during your next blacking session and the source of much of the piss taking would be erased 🔨🔨🍻🚢👍
