When you’re as thick as you are, I’m sure lots of things must be difficult to understand. I think your mixing up inteligence and privlige. I think you are too thick to know what either word means - especially since neither word exists!

I realise that you believe your own bluster and bullshit, that's what makes it so sad really. Oh well I suppose when you get to your age and with your condition it gets difficult.

And how does this stuff survive the temps used in welding? and as for cheapskate mmm doubt it have you seen how much his boats sell for and how many times his shells have won Crick boat show........................... I would imagine it is put on after welding. But I don’t know. Anyone can win a Crick boat show, it is voted for by the public and based on how much kerb appeal it has. How it will look in 5 years is not a factor. Not that I’m saying JW’s boats are poor quality, but if the underside of the “rivets” is just filled with paint, they will become rust traps. I have never seen a Hudson with rusty rivets, but perhaps JW’s technique is a reason why riveted boats have a bad name for rust - unfounded in the case of Steve’s boats. When welding depending on type used the temps are from 3000 - 20,000 degrees c, the weld through zinc primer is designed for this I have yet to see anything else in the way of sealants that is. The washer when welded pulls tight onto the steel when it cools down [as long as the welder welds well] achieving a waterproof joint when painted correctly. The primer used is the proper tool for the job, but people like Johnathon a coded pipe welder, Gazza no doubt the same and myself who has been welding for 40 years know this Have you done any welding Nick?

I have done some welding, but absolutely as a rank amateur. I didn’t think this was some willy-waving contest about how good a welder one is - I would definitely lose. But I do know what I was told by the chap who built my boat, which can be corroborated by casual observation. But no doubt, despite never having had a conversation with my boatbuilder nor ever having seen my boat, you will feel that you know best and that I am wrong. Jonathan’s boats washers may be sealed only by paint, mine aren’t and for that I am grateful.

I would live there as is. Gotta be better than this shoe box two bed 1st floor flat It's a shame the walls have been blinged up. The landscaping is ok, again a little too flashy to fit in with the canal but I do think the interior fantastic (discounting the soft furnishings!) I'd have done it along the lines of a Q car, gone mad on the interior but not showy on the outside and left it to blend in with its surroundings.

presumably by implication GRP boats are useless on the BCN I suggest you keep quiet, as all you are doing is digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole My cruiser (narrow beam) was designed for the canal system and has spent 90% of the last 50 years on them, travelling thousands of miles. Re-engined but no major hull work in that time, she is still tidy and probably one of the best laid out small canal boats ever made. There is no reason on earth why if looked, after she will not be around for another 50 years I could suggest several things for you to do. But you are unlikely to do that any more than I am likely to follow your snipey advice. Do you have a broads cruiser of the style we were talking about? If not, your point is once again foolish and ignorant, suffering as usual from not actually reading the posts you are replying to. Your implication is yours, not mine. And a stupid one at that. If you do have a broads cruiser of the style we are talking about, it would be useless on the BCN as it WOULDNT FIT. Do you get it now? No, probably not. Easy to see why you received a life ban from CWDF - purely for being a nasty and stupid pain in the arse. everyone of import has seen my last few thousand posts on a totally un-moderated site and will be well aware of my posting style, they will also be well aware of yours. so for you to attempt to alter history in such a puerile fashion ....... it just confirms everything I have come to expect from you

The trouble is Nick, you get all arsehatty when you can't shout a thread down like you do on CWDF.
Churchward who can also be prone to a bit of arsehattyness called you out on this, i don't often agree with him but he's right, you resort to name calling and willy waving when you fail to beat an opponent with your skewed view on the world.
I read every one of the words you wrote, what is on the screen and what you meant to say don't seem to be connected until you have the opportunity to call someone thick, lazy, stupid, poor whatever.
One thing is for sure, you may own a boat - an expensive showy one at that, you may go boating and when you do you seem disappointed that the world you wish to exist doesn't - you then spend large amounts of time and energy complaining that others spoil your never to be achieved utopia. But, all that said, in no way could I ever consider you a boater.

Our boat is fitted out in maple, I like maple! 👍 I read that a bit too quickly.... I thought it said "nipple" - now THERE'S an interior design idea...

Speaking of boaters, I'm about a third of the way through 'Grey Seas Under' by Farley Mowat. Proper ripping yarn, and thanks for the recommendation Gazza and Bargemast. If anyone would like to read it, pm me an address and I'll post it on. Sorry to interupt, you can go back to your discussion of the ' Bedworth house' now Rog

Oh of course, I forgot you enjoy being a snipey bad tempered misery. You need to masturbate more, it would make you less grumpy.
