Johnathon Wilson great big chap who has been building boats since he was fourteen [worked at nights and weekends for his uncle] another long established boat builder. I’ve no idea about boats built by him (I’ve heard of him, of course) but if he doesn’t fill behind his washers, he is a cheapskate. I don’t see what it has to do with my boat, which is the subject of this current (and oft repeated) attack. And how does this stuff survive the temps used in welding? and as for cheapskate mmm doubt it have you seen how much his boats sell for and how many times his shells have won Crick boat show...........................

RE. the OP... I quite like that house... ok so some of the décor is not my taste but it COULD be lovely. It's price isn't horrendous either given the size, location and land with it. I'd happily live there - tie the boat along side the garden and enjoy mowing the lawn ... getting perfect stripes in it. Money eh!speaking of which, we've booked in for blacking in August - and I've set up a funding page on paypal in case anyone wants to contribute to "help a ginger"... not a registered charity but should be : paypal.me/pools/c/80iyi2OZqn

I would imagine it is put on after welding. But I don’t know. Anyone can win a Crick boat show, it is voted for by the public and based on how much kerb appeal it has. How it will look in 5 years is not a factor. Not that I’m saying JW’s boats are poor quality, but if the underside of the “rivets” is just filled with paint, they will become rust traps. I have never seen a Hudson with rusty rivets, but perhaps JW’s technique is a reason why riveted boats have a bad name for rust - unfounded in the case of Steve’s boats.

Post-industrial spoil heaps etc. And Bedworth /Nuneaton have more than their fair share of grottiness.

Bluster, puff and a general mish mash of nonsensical rubbish from Norman again. Must be Monday and he's been left alone. (rolls eyes).

Nick I think you need to go down to the broads there are some stunning boats on there, have a google at some of the Hybrid ones on offer, well laid out, well made, and cheap to run oh and I forgot big in comparison to a narrowboat Yes but Gazza doesn’t have one of those. Anyway, horses for courses. Boards cruisers are great for the broards but useless for the BCN. presumably by implication GRP boats are useless on the BCN I suggest you keep quiet, as all you are doing is digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole My cruiser (narrow beam) was designed for the canal system and has spent 90% of the last 50 years on them, travelling thousands of miles. Re-engined but no major hull work in that time, she is still tidy and probably one of the best laid out small canal boats ever made. There is no reason on earth why if looked, after she will not be around for another 50 years

There is no reason on earth why if looked, after she will not be around for another 50 years I could suggest several things for you to do. But you are unlikely to do that any more than I am likely to follow your snipey advice. Do you have a broads cruiser of the style we were talking about? If not, your point is once again foolish and ignorant, suffering as usual from not actually reading the posts you are replying to. Your implication is yours, not mine. And a stupid one at that. If you do have a broads cruiser of the style we are talking about, it would be useless on the BCN as it WOULDNT FIT. Do you get it now? No, probably not. Easy to see why you received a life ban from CWDF - purely for being a nasty and stupid pain in the arse.

What's not easy to understand is why you didn't get a lifetime ban, because you meet all the other criteria that you've listed.

nope - I've noticed this too lol... well, it's worth a try - feel free to post it everywhere you can Sorry, I'd love to contribute but unfortunately I'm having to save up for a display case of ornamental thimbles and some Franklin Mint wall-mounted Princess Diana dinner plates because the inside of my boat isn't poofy enough for the resident style guru.

Well, I will leave that for others to decide. I will repeat, since you obviously missed it the first time around, that the original owner was one of the most respected boat fitter-outers in the industry, and I can also tell you that the wood used in the fit-out, which is iroko, cost over £2,000 back in 1986. I'd accept that it probably isn't poofy enough for some folk's taste. Our boat is fitted out in maple, I like maple! 👍
