Just watching episode 2 of this. I see that a young Telemachus is in it. Fortunately the director went to a proper school so they know how to pronounce his name correctly.

Would you say that your experiences getting bummed off at school by the older boys played any part in forming the man you are today?

So what do we give this as a trolling attempt? Is 3/10 overly generous?

Very disappointing. Possibly being a little less physically repellent may have helped but hey, you can't un-ring a bell.

I read the Iliad at school. Load of rubbish. People seem to think it has some sort of historical relevance but at the end of the day its just bullshit like so many other books. Dictionaries excepted.

Didn't study Greek at school. Did two years of Latin, hated it. Learnt Russian near fluently when I lived in Moscow but don't get much of a chance to use it now.

I did Latin for 5 years. Total waste of time. Would have been better to spend the time learning how to crack an egg properly.

Like the bible. it should be seen as fiction... Anything that was written hundreds of years after an event can't be seen as fact. I include Bede here as well.

It’s just a story. But what is impressive is that it was written getting on for 3000 years ago, and is still being read and made into movies. That’s not bad going for any author! And amazing how many character names are either still in use or at least we’ve all heard of most of them. And they knew how to pronounce Telemachus. And of course, thousands of years later, people are still naming ships, submarines and narrowboats after one of the characters!

And they knew how to pronounce Telemachus. TellyMackus? I said they knew how to pronounce it. I didn’t say you did! Anyway, on the towpath it’s normally heard as TellyMatchUs. So you didn’t even get that right! No doubt you went to an improper school.
