Terms nd conditions, no refunds unless premium paid, fair enough. Not letting the homeless use unused paid for rooms and food, in this weather, they are heartless grasping bastards. The story is spreading fast, already seen and shared on Facebook. If the customers couldn’t get there, perhaps the staff were having similar issues? So not filling the rooms with homeless, NHS staff etc could have been due to staffing issues? Just saying..... That's probably why they couldn't give a refund or make a donation to a homeless charity instead. No, sorry, it's simple money grabbing greed. Rog

They need to take it up with their employer. My daughter, her partner and several of her colleagues stayed in the Premier inn over the road from their hospital last week when it was doubtful if they would get home but more importantly be able to get in first thing next morning. This included some agency staff not directly employed by the Trust. All booked and paid for by their employer.

Just like all the wealthy people who own mansions along the River Thames and in the Cotswolds, all with empty rooms. Premier Inns are no worse than everyone else. I presume you've offered a local homeless person / family use of your narrow boat whilst its sat there vacant for 8 months or so of the year? You may have missed it, but I'm sure I said on Canalworld, when there was talk of 'Syrian refugees', that there were many canal boats just standing empty in marinas. Possibly one reason why I got slung off, as the wealthy don't like it pointed out that their luxury pleasure boats could be housing others whilst the owners are away. Yes, our boat could very comfortably house one or two people whilst we're away from it. There's a stove and a shower with hot water, and a cooker. But. of course, it's our own personal dwelling when we're there, and it's natural that we don't want unknown persons using all our stuff, poking through our possessions, stealing stuff, spray-painting the walls and trashing the joint. Not to mention the spitting, vomiting all over the carpet, and leaving it infested with lice and fleas and a rancid pong. Our boat is very small but if there was one person who needed temporary shelter (and was willing to sleep on the kitchen floor) (if they were zombies we could take 4 if they slept standing upright in the shower, bathroom and kitchen) we would consider taking them in (in fact, 3 years ago we did offer the chance for a man walking the towpaths with his dog to stay overnight inside our boat with us, but he was looking for a bridge to sleep under, I forget if he had a tent; it was a very cold night in Oxford). Then there's the old dilemma of wondering if they are a loony-axe-murderer and would slit our throats in our sleep. And possibly impale our eyes on the end of our mooring pins and roast them in front of the fire. Predictably and monotonously, I come back to my stance of believing there should be enough accommodation for everyone, of a good standard - adequate heating and lighting. The only reason there isn't is because we live in a Human-Capitalistic society. There are huge empty mills 'Up North' with the cotton industry having been shipped to the Far East - why are they standing derelict? They are structurally in great shape. Remember the Centre Point scandal (Tottenham Court Road, London)? Offices a-galore, all new but empty. It's hard to find someone you can really trust to live on your own boat whilst you're away. As I said, it's one's own personal little cave. We know that 'Communism' doesn't work as there's always the lazy cunt who won't chip in and do his share. Would you share your underpants with a group of homeless people? The answer is to force the wealthy into being kinder and do the right thing of helping everyone to have easy access to the basics - but then they're not kind, are they? They've made their money from cruelty and selfishness. I have no sympathy for many lazy people with disgusting habits, but even I think they should at least be offered the chance to improve their lot if they want to, without having to prostrate themselves in front of the evils of prostitution or of being drug mules, or some such seedy activities. We live in a world of riches, I think they should be shared more - not willy-nilly, but distributed in a controlled and considered manner.

Not in my back yard huh?

The discussion, as ever, has wandered. I and others want to beat Premier Inn with a big stick with nails in the end for not allowing use of a room and food already paid for. Someone then has to find a stick to beat us with. I note they are not saying "I've let the homeless share my boat why don't you?" Perhaps they have shares in Premier Inns?

Don't go too far out on a limb yet Jim
The problem (as always) with anything media generated, you only get bits and pieces of the story and usually it's hyped to suit the goals of whoever is posting

I wonder if Sarah Parker-Khan and her Young Farmer chums are showered with EU farming subsidies and were going to drive there in their Range Rovers? Maybe but young farmers parties mostly always end in drug fuelled sex romps.

Wonder if they just have farmers parties. Put your tractor key in the bowl by the door.
