All the extra damage that they do single gating. Ps what is the extra charge for widebeams based on? How do they do extra damage over a widebeam? Narrowboats do more running around the system in general so most maintenance is for the canals and locks they use. In wide locks, many narrowboaters only open one gate and drive through rubbing against the other gate's chamfered post, eventually causing the "John Wayne's Legs" feature, an ovoid hole. This is what we were told by the very people who build lock gates at the Stanley Ferry workshop. Many hirers of narrowboats are drunken yobbos and families with kids who are just on a 'one off' and couldn't give a toss about the infrastructure so long as they can have a nice holiday - yes, I've seen these twerps lift paddle catches and let the paddle drop with an almighty clang, and then just smirk at me.

what is the extra charge for widebeams based on? Because you and Jenlyn are on Thunderboat and they dislike the both of you Yes but jenlyn's boat is less than the 10ft7.5" so he gets away with it a bit more than Kris who has a True wide boat. I wonder where the 10ft 7.5 comes from as it is a completely irrelevant size. You can only use wide locks but the chance of sharing them with any license paying boat is minimal. So why do they pay less than a boat 13ft wide ?? Weird.

I don't doubt for a moment that Parry will at some point end up in front of a panel of mp's. (Not for this issue of course).
Canal and River Trust is becoming a project that's going very very wrong.

For some reason I thought you had an L&L boat. I need to go to the quack about my early onset parkinsons.

Sorry for grassing you up to CRT !
You are going to have to change the name as well.
It was a bit odd that the document linked in the op had something along the lines of "we will require beam information" * I'm sure they already require that in that when you apply for a license you declare length, width and draught. It's normal. I don't understand why they would think this information would need to be obtained when it is already on the system .
clueless admin?
Or is it an invitation for people to declare that their wide boat has been narrowed?
* there is a little calendar bit which says April 2019 same charges as now "but we will require width information".
They already have width information. Unless people are deliberately not putting that in the license application due to knowing which way the wind is blowing. I think the BS scheme records this as well. Not sure maybe they just do length.

I think there should be a marked increase in the cost of licences for boats with composting toilets in order to discourage the practice of subjecting our beautiful waterways to the foul stench of putrid and rotting faeces.

I thought beam was the widest part of the boat. Or is it measured at the waterline. Or maybe at the bottom of the boat.

I agree with this and also a 200% surcharge for anyone carrying a large knife above deck level (its for clearing the prop innit).
