My other half (unmarried French national whose been living in UK paying taxes for 12 years) has had a confirmation from the French consulate that she can stay here indefinitely. So we don't have to get married. Phew! Rather strange that it's the French that are saying she can stay, as she's not staying in their country. It's always a good thing if you don't have to get married, as that can save you a lot of misery if it would ever come to a divorce. Peter.

Isn't London something like the fifth or sixth largest French city, based on number of French inhabitants?

Indeed it is odd that it is the French saying she can stay but I don't think there would be anyone particularly keen on breaking up dual nationality families and as she has two children on UK and French passports I suppose she may be in a safer position than a single French person might be. As for marriage, I and my sisters suffered quite badly from a high conflict divorce when I was 12. Not something you want for your kids I hate marriage.

It does seem strange to print UK passports in France. Surely the goverment should spend its money in the UK seen as its UK tax payers money anyway.

The cynical view......De La Rue is just making a fuss, touting for business. They print passports for 40 countries around the world. They aren't making a fuss to be nationalistic. Not to say there isn't a case to be made to print them here.

Who's, not whose.
What's it got to with the French to decide whether she can stay in the UK or not? As I suggested if the UK did leave the EU, where's the sense in turfing out people who have been here for 12 years?
This scaremongering is just to deflect from the real issue which is why those traitors in the Government been strung up yet?

Isn't London something like the fifth or sixth largest French city, based on number of French inhabitants? Quebec being the fourth.

They have two factories in England so they may still be printed in the UK.
