Oh and magnetman if finaces get really tight, you could always get a job. Sorry to swear at you, but it's what most other people do 😄 Sadly I've blotted my copy book with MI6 on that and would never get a reference. Unless I find someone who recognises my talent without requiring a referee. cambridge analytical maybe?😄

Boaters are being squeezed for money, when they haven't had any wages increases. Where's the extra money going to come from? Will boaters have to start rummaging through the free food boxes by the checkouts at Tesco's? Will they be surviving on cheaper food? Leading to illness and more strain on the NHS?
Yes, how nice, turquoise uniforms and more duck signs, and money borrowed for this lark. As boaters are a 'minority group', does this harassment not constitute some kind of 'racism' or 'ethnic cleansing'? How about contacting Amnesty International, or the UN Human Rights people?

I get £13/hour for driving a bus, and those wankers get £10 for just annoying passers-by? I'm underpaid!

Not sure what you need to do to get that, just turn up or meet targets? Surprised the amount appears so high - almost unbelievably so.

It just goes to show how effective Crt have been at splitting boaters along already existing fault lines. I don't think CRT are attempting to split boaters I think they are attempting to split boaters from people who only have boats because it is cheap accommodation. People who actually like boating and living on the boat will be easily able to accept the price hikes. Those who are in it simply to minimise the costs to themselves will moan. Obviously there will be leisure boaters with wide boats who will suffer from it but there is always collateral damage when you get a group taking advantage - its just the way it works. I was in favour of charging by area when I had a narrow boat and I still am despite now owning 3 CRT registered boats over 7ft wide. There is trouble brewing and this is one (most likely completely ineffective) way to attempt to minimise the damage. Cue jenlyn - "fuck off and try harder - I thought you were educated" For you it all seems to be very easy and no problem, but what do you know about the financial situations of other people that like boating and living on their boats, how do you know that they can easily accept the price hikes ? Why do you think that the leisure boater will suffer from it ? For them the boat is just something extra as they live in houses, it's more likely that they can afford it, and if they can't, it wouldn't be as bad to get rid of their boats as for someone that only has a boat as living accomodation and is depending on that boat, in which they've often invested all of their money and energy for many years. It's so easy to assume, thereby forgetting the reality of other peoples problems. Peter.

I think the victim of our increased CRT licence fee is going to be our membership to the Inland Waterways Association. The money has to come from somewhere. The IWA will 'get what they ordered'.
