Will be interesting see the "solution" to the problem of engaging "Joe Public". I wonder if they will drop the History part of their motto or reinforce it.

You couldn't make this bullshit up, to me it just confirms how out of touch with the reality the managment actually are.

I always thought the trust would survive until such time as the government funding expired. At 5 years in, and another ten to go, I no longer hold such thoughts. The problem is, and always will be the fact that these idiots have nobody to answer to.

I wonder if the new logo and catchphrase is going to introduce the idea of "ownership" of the canals by everyone. Something like "Your canals, your space your pace" or whatever. Its going to be quite hard to appeal to the Joe public at large I would have thought there must be a lot of people who see the canals as a bin.
I suppose something like "Come on! Its not a bin!" Might work ?

That goes back to my original assumption which is that CRT is just a stepping stone and its primary reason to exist is to fail with as much publicity as possible.

So the bridgewater canal is owned by a company, how does that work, i read about some people not liking them, but is the upkeep of the canal ok?

You could sit back and laugh at this bunch of clowns except that they are saddling who ever takes over from them with 200million in debt and nothing left to sell.

They own other waterways related things as well. I don't know about the maintenance but I imagine that gets.looked after as long as it generates profit.

"The way we talk about ourselves". Hmm, maybe less talking and more focus on spending money wisely would help. They're typical of big budget organisations, each £100k seems like peanuts in the overall scheme of things and it's not their money. So while one hand is probably saving pennies on stationary, the other is spending millions on utter bollox. They're like kids in a sweet shop with their stupid signs, pink overalls and balance beam carving, vole houses and who knows what other wastage while simultaneously claiming there's not enough money for their primary purpose. Sack the lot of them, a random passer by on the street would do better simply by being a fresh pair of eyes and not caught up in this tedious image presentation loop they can't get out of. To CRT Time to smell the coffee, it ain't your image projection that's the problem it's petty buggering about, disgraceful court actions, worrying unfounded overstay communication, knackered locks and swing bridges and wasteful introspection. FFS, get back to the roots, issue licences like the law states, maintain the infrastructure and keep your noses out of how people use it as that - is not your place. Edit to add : Stop trying to manipulate waterways users like 4 year olds, it's insulting, that's your main "image" problem. Vrow up, you can't fix the way you behave by painting it a pretty colour, fix your behaviour. Hopefully someone crt might read this forum so I've adressed you directly, without sweary words, I hope you appreciate that. FYI, nobody, who parks in the marina I use has a good word for you, change your behaviour and your image will improve without any budget at all.

Then sell it to cart for free moorings and licence for life for two boats, a kanoo and a yot. Job sorted.

I think peel ports is a sub company(or what ever the term is) of peel holdings who are a property development company and make most of the money. They are the BBC's landlord at Salford quays, I doubt you would want them to take over the whole network.

Nothing left to sell but there is some money to be made me thinks. Or is the massive increase in the number of people living on boats just some sort of fluke. It seems to me to be market driven (too cheap) and at some stage someone will see that and start taking money. Charge 1000 people an extra £1000 a year you get £1m. Another £1000 on top of cruising license is nothing compared to mortgage or renting costs. Surely someone will see this at some point.

I should have made it clearer and said left them with no property to sell.
