So I'm abandoned and thought about a day out in Chorley. All I know about the place is courtesy of Peter Kay, which isn't much. So where's best to moor, and what's to see? I am googling as well, so personal insights is more what I'm after here Rog

Not yet, but the good ship Ellis will be bringing you here, and you'll want to know all the intimate details too.
Where do you meet up with Ellis, is it Shipley?

Sounds interesting. Have you been? As it's Saturday tomorrow, I may cruise up that way and have a nosey about. I don't like rum, and I'm not really the pirate type, but it may be worth an exploration. I was hoping a 'local' would give me up to date info. I'm sure I'll survive Rog

Winded by mistake in the wind when trying to moor, then again, did have an exciting ten minutes there when the owner's chopper flew in yards over the canal .......... then a blacked out 4 x 4 whisked off all the cargo .......
There's also a launderette and Aldi within easy walking distance (once a boater ...!).
Have a good weekend.
Met x

You see, I knew someone would know.
I'll go take a look.
Laundrette sounds goods, as I seem to be attracting large swarms of flies at present.
Did you moor around Botany Bay ah argh (sorry, but sounds very piratey)

AAArrgh!!
I did indeed....
.....but nowhere near as glamorous as you may think.....
Next stop Johnsons Hillock Locks - lovely but nigh on impossible as a single hander as there are no/very few lock landings. Good luck.
p.s. sorry about the flies - launderette up the hill and turn right, Aldi at bottom x

Thanks for that.
I thought you and George were seriously committed to the Shroppie, and loafer country.
I didn't realise you were so peripatetic.
Are you still considering a new boat?
