Who would cut the first ones? You haven't thought this through, have you? the person who has the paperwork. the font door of our building is a security key and the local key cutter won't cut another one. People can be bought...

Bought off ebay obvs. The fact that these can be purchased so easily (and cheaply) on the internet I find totally immoral ....... if only issued by surgeries or hospitals to those who need them it would not stop completely misuse but it would stop the blatant actions of many ...... I think the actions of those who market these keys for financial benefit are more disgusting than those that misuse the keys themselves.

I have some benign(hopefully) prostate trouble, when I gotta go I gotta go. I'm hardly stopping anyone else using the facilities for long.

The solution is quite simple really, electronic locks with card access. When you pay your liscence fee you get issued your card for the year. If they then improved some of the facilities they could charge non boaters for access to the facilities. It would also have the advantage of barring boaters who don't pay their liscence from using the facilities. Obviously you couldn't do this with every water point, but toilets, showers and eelsan points could be done. It's questionable if it's morally right to encourage people to use the canals and then charge them for use of the loo, but it's about the only thing cart are allowed to charge walkers and cyclists for. Oh by the way it's not just camper van owners who misuse the facilities, in the cities an increasing number of homeless have cottoned on to just needing a Bw key unfortunately they don't just use the showers. You get people sleeping in the facilities. In some places they have had to lock them at night to stop this practice.

I'd never thought about anyone else using them but it makes sense that homeless people would use the services. The idea of an electronic lock with a card is a good' un. I never use the showers and try my best not to use the bins, after all if I dump my rubbish daily it's easy enough to put it in a public litter bin. The ones I pay my tax for foxy!

We pay plenty of tax when we're in the UK - VAT on every bleedin' thing, tax on petrol and diesel... and in Finland we pay roughly 66% on our incomes (when you take everything into consideration) so that Brits can get medical services on the Finnish National Health (ie. cheaply).

There were electronic fobs on the Lancaster canal services circa 2004. A pain when you turn up not expecting it and can't get one till you get to the cart office in Galgate.

I always use the disabled loos as you get your privacy in that one room. I don't care to see lots of men shaking their willies and spend hours washing their hands and playing with the air dryer. It's creepy.
