Oho - costs going up again: "BSS Examiners will pay a new price of £36 (excluding VAT) for each certification they issue to a boat, which is a £7 rise that they will likely choose to pass onto customers." www.iims.org.uk/boat-safety-scheme-certification-charges-set-rise-part-new-four-year-business-investment-plan/"Throughout the four-year business plan period boaters will see further investment in influencing boat owners’ behaviours, which is the key to keeping people safe from serious harm." Have they ever thought that people now need to save more money to pay for the BSS increase, so won't buy that extra CO alarm or smoke alarm they had in mind?

Gas bottles are too expensive to come by (unless you are a pikey) I must be lucky. I 'inherited' two empty 13kg Calor bottles from the gas store at my local marina, who were quite happy to exchange for two full ones, for just the price of the gas. I can only think that someone had left the empties lying around and they had been repatriated by the yard staff, so they were surplus to their stock according to Calor. When I changed my boat for a yogurt pot the marina was quite happy for me to 'inherit' two more bottles, this time 3.9kg each.
