nope ...... gie us a clue The cylinder was as good as empty and in direct sunlight, there must have been a puff enough to light a burner and that was about it. I put my spare on, relit the oven and hob, shut it down and tested it at least a dozen times - no leaks whatsoever Years ago I had a same issue doing pre BSS checks on the Out House Mouse, couldn't get a stable reading on the manometer - I KNEW the system was sound, I was only really interested in check the bottle let by and reg lock up pressure, after a bit of head scratching I twigged it was the fact the bottle was as good as empty. Having had this happen before I was not surprised to find it the issue with this well built and looked after boat. Cases like this don't half make you wonder about the point of it all.

"Please ensure that your domestic batteries are fully charged and that you have sufficient LPG and water for a minimum of 15 minutes working (allows for the needs of the examination and at least 2 cups of tea !)".

why is the warning notice attached to the disconnected bottle? Because there is now a full one in its place fueling the system that had sweet FA wrong with it. A leak free system can't be a fail....

Sadly I didn't get to it before the BSS examiner. Don't forget, people send cars for MOT with shagged tyres, wiper blades and blown bulbs - something you and I would never do but thousands of others do.

So, if I understand this right, the BSS fail was because there was not enough gas in the bottle for the examiner to check the gas system? If there was a spare bottle, could the examiner not have changed it over himself?

why is the warning notice attached to the disconnected bottle? Yeah - what danger? And not use what? The bottle top with the valve opened a bit to put a frying pan on?

If there was a spare bottle, could the examiner not have changed it over himself? No spare. It was replaced with my spare! I want to shop him, the owner doesn't. Missed insecure battery interlinks and has demanded extra ventilation despite it being advisory. The boat in question has had more than a couple of BSS examinations prior to this one....

I don't even understand it. It might be dangerous if you lift the bottle and drop it on your toe? Man's a plonker.

The label was attached to the bottle when it was connected to the phantom leaking gas system. I removed it from the non leaking system and dumped it on the mooring where an empty bottle with an incorrectly attached warning notice rightly belongs. It was replaced with my spare full bottle that revealed the system to be gas tight and fully compliant.
