Still waiting for that list.... Don't hold your breath. I've told people what to do if they are concerned, email Michael gove in his capacity as Secretary of State for the enviroment. But it seems most people on this forum don't really care job doing by the reactions.

Oh... Michael Gove. Even my sister said he's a moron. Do you seriously think he reads e-mails to him from the Great Unwashed? His secretary just bins them or sends out a bland pre-written automatic response. If nothing else, how about Boaters starting a new group, in a similar way to Thunderboat which rose from a need for boaters to express themselves without too much hindrance. I know there are various boaters groups, but how about a new one whose aims are pinpointed at this very issue, with members willing to go round and have it out with their local politicians and those who are trying to make things worse for boaters?
At least Thunderboat is, itself, a step in the right direction, as we can be made aware of these things and discuss them relatively freely.
It's no good throwing dried peas at a dinosaur with sharp teeth (bigwig politician), what you need is a bazooka up their bum to get their attention.

I don't think a boaters group is the answer, groups just become wrapped up in being a group.

I just tried to remember the name of the group of boaters, for some reason i had nbta in my head, a quick google took me to, www.nbta.org.uk/ My fav! www.nbta-uk.org.uk/I then found the one i was thinking of, www.bargee-traveller.org.uk/Are they not a bunch of unwashed that like to march in london with big banners and whistles, would they not be best to do something?

They are the only boaters group that are standing up to cart and have had lots of success. They have been the only people there to help vulnerable boaters when faced with carts bullying tactics.

I, like many I suspect, did not like the name and set out believing they are something of a joke.
I have learned better.
I believe they are the only organisation now, more concerned with 'boating issues' than who is chair person, or other administrative nonsense.
I am convinced from my observations that 'boats and boating' are at the core of what they do, and unlike some long established organisations, they do not 'judge' people.
Other views are available of course (read CWDF)

Looking them up, their latest News is..... March 29th 2018. I can't see any meetings coming up. Can anyone speak up for this organisation? Seems to be a bit of a wet fish to me. I'm dying my dreadlocks this evening, can't come out to play. Can anyone list their achievements? Are they besieging Michael Gove (the Minister for Education - or at least he was that) and causing him sleepless nights because of his moral consciousness?

The IWA may care about a different type of boater.
I'm all for supporting the bargee-travellers, but, seriously - no News since 2 months ago? What have they done about the Middlewich breach? Surely it's not just about embroidering Bob Marley style hats along the Kennet & Avon? What have they done about the aggressive boaters along the K&A who threaten to release their viscious dogs on you if you dare moor up at one of their mates' spots that they are saving for him?

Are they not a bunch of unwashed that like to march in london with big banners and whistles, would they not be best to do something? Here Froggy - www.bargee-traveller.org.uk/consultation-responses/ a list (with links) of all the consultation responses the NBTA have made to parliamentary inquiries etc.. they do loads. I know I'm late with this but i thought i'd say.. It's worth a look.
