www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-44612842Needless waste of life and avoidable life changing injuries for others. This happened smack bang in the middle of a dead straight 5ish mile long 60mph single carriageway busy A Road. Good visibility - how the fuck you don't see a double decker bus when turning right across traffic from both directions is anyone's guess. Sadly it could easily have been avoided by the slight inconvenience of turning left and doing 2.5 miles down to the A47/A142 roundabout and come back on yourself. 5 miles, about a gallon of diesel and 10-15 minutes max. The A47 would have been getting proper busy at 07:30, I wonder if it was a flip flop at the wheel?

My theory: Truck driver waiting half-way across for a while, selfish a-holes wouldn't let him go. Bus driver doing a text-message. Prove me wrong.

I saw it online earlier today 2 dead isnt it? proper mess I in the past have had to do the same thing I cant believe the bus just ran into it! something strange going on to say the least

so according to the lorry forum. there is dashcams running in those lorries and if the busses are like here then they will have multiple cameras.
should be an easy one for the BIB to solve, so we don't have to try 😉.
needless waste of lives.

I don't know the answer to this: if you have found a longish gap and pull halfway across the road, and have to wait for oncoming traffic in the other lane (in this case from your left) and then some plonker eventually comes from the right and smashes into you, who is at fault? 100% plonker from the right, or are you partially to blame for being halfway out?
Yes, this A47 case seems a bit bizarre. You can't blame mist/fog, as, if you can't see slow down or stop! Same with the Sun - poor vision = pull off the road until you can see, or drive slower.
Truck's dashcam in this case, and bus driver's mobile phone records, are surely first to be examined (obviously witness statements too).

It does seem an odd one ...... I once had a van pull out of a junction a fairish way in front of me and start to cross over the white line, I didn't ease off as I expected him to continue to pull out and be clear before I got there ........ he didn't ...... he stopped on the white line, obviously fed up with waiting and had decided to force me to stop ........ I did ....... Just !!! Proper squeaky bum moment though
I now expect all other drivers on the road to be incompetent, inconsiderate, blind and deaf twats.

Tragedies will always happen due to human error..who ever at fault will not bring back the dead....?would a driverless bus have avoided this..or maybe computer assisted driving with still a man at the wheel

The Stagecoach double deckers have dash cams, whether the one fitted to this is of any use now is anyone's guess.

I believe and only from my local buses that they have multiple exterior and interior cameras and the footage is stored in a separate computer(thing). they will have the footage.

My bus doesn't have any dashcam, just the tachograph which tells the speed (although it is not necessarily accurate; I have tested one and found it to be out by 6-10km/h. That was after a speed camera flashed me when I was 'doing 80km/h' in an 80 limit).
