Today was a big step forward to completion - not without a good deal of twating about though! This
Now lives here I had to remove the batteries to bosch through the locker with a 4β holesaw to gain access to the back of the fitting, I also had to inlist the help of my good friend and Ormelite owner Lee to fit it, not having arms like a gibbon and currently floating in 12β of water there was a high chance of it becoming Neptuneβs property if I attempted it on my own! The mark is a cobweb and the big fat fender is hanging there to keep it out of the way while I work in the locker it normally sits in. All that remains is to make a stand for the vetus silencer and connect it all up, after that itβs hit the key and see what happens ππ»π¨πΎπ€

Gave you a πfrom Brahms and Listz airport in Hungary βcos I can. Back in Blighty tonight. I just realised there are 4 - yes FOUR exhaust fittings on that port side hull!π 1 for the Wallas 1 for the Webasto 1 for the now Turbocharged engine 1 for the (now redundant) NA engine Back down to three when she comes out in May π Have a good trip back - it's snowing here btw!

Itβs alive!! itβs alive!! The engine had been warmed up by the Webasto, but seeing as I was short of time I only gave it a brief run hence nothing up to what youβd call proper working temperature - first impression are good, no black smoke at all, this is something I will address, Iβd rather a bit of excess diesel keeping the pistons cool than running close to the limit as I think I may be at the moment. No boost made below 1600 rpm, this is our normal cruising speed so means she wonβt be operating on boost all the time, Iβm very happy about this ππ The Intercooler is a total success. T1 - charge air in T2 - charge air out T3 - EGT - this will get significantly higher when worked hard. 3 channels reading only as my Chinese mate has not delivered the goods for the mixing elbow thermocoupleπ€¬ - this is not a disaster as itβs a luxury rather than a necessity The new exhaust makes a pleasing gurgling and sploshing, being above the waterline it means I can now see how good the flow of raw water is- itβs also very quiet and doesnβt need the vetus silencer - this is a bonus for mouse as he can have it to replace his ancient Elastomuffle silencer. I need mouse as helmsman so I can make adjustments underway and see the results in real time- I canβt do both on my own! Plan is to have next Saturday upping the fuelling and working her a bit hard for a decent amount of time to see where we are at. It also makes that all important wooshing noise on boost ππΎπ¨π¨π

If it makes a good wooofle sound when you snap the throttle shut and so long as you wear your cap backwards or preferably sideways, the local boy racers will accept you as a fully paid up member

I've not forgotten about this! Pump has been to work for a touch of adjustment on the max fueling - I tried to do it in situ last night; but the angle the DPA pump sits at means I couldn't see the adjuster - too high risk to guess it. A legacy of the B series petrol engine architecture - the injector pump is driven from a skew gear in the same fashion as the petrol distributor would be driven. This photo was taken with my phone wedge between the injector pipes and the head, I had no chance of seeing what was going on. So, a quick Twirl of the spanners and it was in the car and off to the operating table. Much easier to sort it out in a warm well lit workshop than in the depths of Fairlights cold engine hole. Added bonus is having a lathe to hold the pump input shaft so it stops turning when you undo the keep plate securing screw ππ¨π¨π¨ Back on Saturday when the tribe are off swimming - I hate swimming, it's a means to stop you drowning and that's it (I can swim and do hold a 200m certificate to prove it π€¬π§) If it stays dry for the rest of the week there is an outside chance we may be off strong streams - so a slim chance I can run her up again, if not, we wait until it we get the all clear to go again.

SSA just removed so looking good for your test flight at the weekend! That was the plan, evil forces seem to be conspiring against me though. That evil force has just walked through the door and scuppered my plans. The pump is done, however - mouse is absent and worse still Mrs Gazza is making noises about me going clothes shopping as we are dwarf free on Saturday - arrrgghhh!!! Not good ππ She has a point though, my very limited wardrobe is becoming more and more depleted as jeans are falling to bits or shirts have ever more holes appearing in them; not from welding spatter eitherπ Sunday is out as Mrs Gazza is at work, and while the Dwarf's helmsmanship has come on leaps and bounds she's not ready to be my assistant with shakedown just yet. Oh well, lob the pump back on, possibly set the valve clearances on the Freeman's watermota and retire to the bar is about as much as I can hope for.

Clothes shopping! That's 5 minutes of the day I don't go clothes shopping anymore, I still wear some T-shirts that are over 10 years old. If my dear lady wife wants me in newer stuff, which she does, she goes out and buys them for me leaving me free to pursue my whims Clothes are not there to look good just to keep you dry and warm.

I know, it's something I avoid like mad, hence me not having much left to keep me warm and dry! Also, I may well be getting close to the 'you love that bloody boat more than you love me' motivational speech. What with it being St Valentine's day for once in a while I thought I'd better keep my head down and do as I'm told - path of least resistance being the easiest to tread and all that π

Think of the shopping trip as money in the bank.
Next free time you get to choose.
