I just wonder who it's aimed at, what's the target audience for this video?

I just wonder who it's aimed at, what's the target audience for this video? The Government departments who dish out the cash for them to squander on anything other than what the Articles of Association stated as their primary objective.

At the end of this ridicules video you see a person with "confidence" written next to its image, I suppose that it's a girl that was shown earlier in this video, although I'm not sure what it was, as only the eyes were visible, a real proof of confidence.
The fisherman and the cyclists shown together all very pieceful in this video, which is often far away from reality, as I've discovered many times while cycling on the towpath, slowly and extremely careful when passing other folks, dogs, ducks etc, but regulary given a mouthful by fisherman that don't want to pull their rod off the towpath, even while being asked friendly and politely to do so.
This video has got very little to do with boating, it's more a publicity to get more volontiers to work for C&RT, so they can sack more of their own staff.
Peter.

I actually believe that in the ideal world (which it isn’t) we do all engage to make the canals a better place. I didn’t see the guy being chucked out of his home in this video though...not the ideal world the video is trying to portray then....

My view is that the volunteer scheme stinks. Load of bollocks. Framed in a very caring and sharing way as if the objective is to do good but its bollocks. B o l l o c k s.
Sadly its the way things are going. I wonder if top level management will be farmed out to volunteers at some stage. Why do I think that will not happen.
I hate it. It would be so much better if CRT was an ordinary employer where people who were enthusiastic about waterways could get paid jobs or apprenticeships.

No reason why management can be made up from volunteers either! I think a lot of the problems we see with CRT is due to it being run too much like a financial business.

The boats just make a pitcturesque backdrop for their propaganda. I noticed the brief shot of cyclists and anglers "sharing the space" I wonder if they had to set that shot up?

Well I can see how some of them may feel their jobs are theatened by volunteers. However it’s supposed to be a charity so you’d expect the paid staff to see volunteers as being a helpful compliment to their staff. I still think it’s strange that you don’t get many (or any) volunteer management staff working for charities. Yet plenty of 6 figure positions... Does anyone know the percentage of contract staff working for CRT now? Surely some jobs like vegitation clearance and grass cutting could be done by more volunteers.

I was just wondering about this today. Are CRT looking at replacing contractors with volunteers for vegetation management? I would guess that the cost if appropriate machinery and related training would make it nonviable.
However if the £32 an hour thing with the volunteers is true and I suspect it probably is then it could happen.
Oh well life is too long to worry about this sort of thing.

I was just wondering about this today. Are CRT looking at replacing contractors with volunteers for vegetation management? They, or should I say parry, has been looking to make this policy since the end of 2014. They are succeeding slowly with volunteers managing their sponsored areas. The contractors are seeing the number of cuts per year decrease, with volunteers taking part. Four to six cuts per year was the last I heard.
