I took the survey, but it does seem to be more about making moorings available to those visiting London rather than a nationwide issue.

I have it from a very reliable source, that you only "put" up with boating because it's your partner's chosen pastime. As for everyone buying a Hudson, I can see these being the first to lose considerable values, given they won't get past the marina exit owing to lack of depth. Obviously not that reliable a source then! No, it was me who first went canal boating aged 8 (friend's dad's boat), was exploring the BCN aged 12, boated regularly on said friend's boat + our family hire boat holidays until I went to Uni, then introduced Jeff to canals about 22 years ago borrowing said friend's boat (by now a newish narrowboat) for 2 weeks every year until finally we bought our own boat 5 years ago. So I'd say we both equally like boating, perhaps one difference is I also have gliding and flying to fit in, and quite enjoy sailing which Jeff hates. You're one of the few poster that keep me interested here, Nick. The other interesting ones know who they are. Go gettem, mate!

It will become a two tier system, the wealthy marina boaters will pay for all the best moorings, and the rest of us plebs will be left to find somewhere else, away from the facilities, and out of sight of the hire boats lest we upset them with our bohemian ways.

However, I would have thought putting something in the water to stop them breeding would be a more humane way. Either that or putting them in chain gangs and building some more canals. If they object, and say they want to boat, give them a rubber dinghy and a route map to Libya.

Bohemian ? like not buying a license ?

Will a Steve Hudson hull be as good as our Delph Marine hull when it be 30 years old? As for those Chinese boats that come in containers you may as well take the boat to the local dump, and use the container!
