First coat done ... within an hour two combine harvesters appeared in neighbouring fields ... discretion being the better part of valor we cleared off to a new spot. Worked up now until morning Rog

Only one Bittern's Boom. It's not wise to name your boat after a stunned kingfisher, CRT don't like it and will take it away. Mind you I've heard they can be exempt from BSC, which can be a good thing, or possibly not.

Him ranting about C&RT is almost as bad as the foxy crayoning his rubbish everywhere ... don't encourage him.

Car is sorted out, both front brake pipes were corroded and leaking. They are a bit of a pain to get to as the battery, battery tray and some pipework needs to be removed to get to them. So that's another £247.32 down the Suwannee River. And I still need to sort out the windscreen washer pump which is u/s.
Charlie is on his way home now, hoping he can get up in September. Sam is up Bank Holiday weekend, as is my brother and his new partner. Weather permitting we'll do a run down to Hillmorton and back.
90% certain I'll be going back to work next week, August is one of my two expensive months (the other one being February) so I could do with earning some brass.

That's just about half what you were expecting for the car ... that's a result.

Credit Canal Plan for the list. As I said Narrow Escape comes in at 67th Rog Is "not known" the actual name or is it not known. If its not known why don't they know it?

There are two boats called Desiree plus one called Maris Piper and another called King Edward.
EDIT Apparently the other Desiree has now been renamed "Tammy".

I remember incredibly clever boat names such as "sin nombre" and "idano" on the Thames.
No doubt very clever people.
One thing that has always intrigued me is how rude could you get before the name would be disallowed.
If you put "awful scum" as a name or "just fuck off" would they have to do a bored meeting about it and decide on whether it was too rude?
There must be a cutoff point somewhere or a list of rude words not allowed.
I find it very intriguing.
Anyway lovely day did 4 laps of the Henley regatta pleasure boat circuit going back in the dinghy later on to soak up some of the twatmosphere.
It's quite amusing plus the River is fun anyway.

Anyway. Opening day for Henley today. I did meet a gin palace bloke in Hambleden lock and he was like "what is that?" and I was like "it's a miniature luxury superyacht" and he had a look of disdain. I did explain that the vessel has a fully insulated cabin, enough cooking solutions to feed an army, a coal fire, a Shires flushing toilet with a raised cistern and a huge holding tank so one can remain legal plus the 5 separate stainless steel fresh water tanks and the twin engines and the cranes and the blah blah blah. It's a work of art. He was not that convinced, being the owner of a generic gin palace. You do get 'em. Was talking to Dulcinea earlier and she was like "put a picture up of me looking all evening-like and I promise no pictures will turn up of you looking like a twat with your blazer". So here we are. The work of art.
