We knew Charley-the original owner well through the BCNS society,a really lovely bloke.😁 Pretty sure he was on the BCN 24hr challenge we did in 2014. Do you know why he sold it? His wife was quite poorly in a home & Charley decided he wanted to spend more time with her.

Strange thoughts tonight. When you are in work, a major worry is that you might lose your job. And then when do and you've been out of work long enough you worry about getting a job. It's a bit like Brooks Hatlen in the Shawshank Redemption being unable to cope with leaving prison. And so it is here tonight, only in reverse. I'm thinking I have one more day of freedom then it's back to wage slavery. Funny old world. Funny old world indeed. I was heading for a comfortable retirement until 2008 struck and being self employed had private pensions which were about to mature. I was still 4 years off the Govt Pension, and as annuity rates dropped, I was advised to 'let it grow'. As we now know, annuity rates dropped even further. I reckon I lost about 2 years worth of income by the time I had to cash them in. Fortunately I was fit enough to continue working at a level which suited me (instead of a boss). I've now finally finished but my ability to enjoy myself is curtailed somewhat by health problems. I've not got the financial buffer I would like, but I can still afford most of what I want. Look at the positive Mr S; you're fit enough to do your work, your skill is in demand, and you will retain some stimulation with people in the outside world. I've seen many who only have their own selves to retreat into and its like they get sucked into a vortex of despair and keyboard warfare. Chin up old chap, you've got your memories of your travels, a supportive family (when you want them) and a future of further cruises in the 'potato coffin'. I'd still like to know who is driving around in my Mercedes.

The main reason I still get involved with the drydock is the stimulation of working with people (who I like) and utilising my skills.
There is no financial need to work, I have no expensive tastes that require a high income but without that time spent there or on the commercial trips I know I would become too much of a hermit ....... and that is not good

Twenty minutes or so with the lads then off on my own for a bit. Then maybe some chit-chat when my trailer is being loaded then back on my own again. I like some company but in strictly limited amounts. Will be interested to find out if they have any goodies for me, I need about three tonnes more of aggregate for the mooring. I could afford to stay out boating a little longer but I want the 125cc Honda and that will be £1,200 plus probably another £250 for CBT, insurance etc. Then if I do my full bike test that will be getting on for £1,000 so an early start back at work makes that all a bit easier. Fingers crossed I've got no major outgoings on the boat this Winter, last year the blacking, other work and solar panel installation came to around £1,150.

I think it's wisest in your case Mr Stabby not to be in company for too long ... the body count would become very noticeable Rog ETA now I know you're okay, it struck me that the interesting part of The Dunk encouraging you to hang yourself , was that it proves he obviously reads every page and post of this vomit inducing, noddy-boating, Goon Squad infested , blatantly pointless thread

The thing I'm dreading most about tomorrow is that I have to go and load in Rotherham, an area renowned for its cretinous mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging population.

Nice enough day, just seen one of those tall sailing dinghies out at Bourne End. A nice breeze, a nice boat. They arrr rather sensible to be out in it. Other than that the River is very quiet.

Yup, you ain’t ever going to go grey. Never going to go grey, never going to become sufficiently proficient at Classical Greek to pronounce things properly. Nearest thing to Greek you need to know is Grecian 2000

Shows hank is a great film. Read some stuff about it recently, which of course I've forgotten but it was an interesting read.

I do remember that Steven King sold the rights for $5,000 and never cashed the cheque.
It was a box office flop but became one of the highest rented movies ever.
