Oh dear! On the K&A Interesting recovery operation. Mr Stabby how would this happen? Was the driver going too fast and suddenly realised the bridge was not rated to carry the vehicle so diverted to avoid a more serious incident? I think we can safely say that no driver employed by Slam Transport would exhibit such poor driving skills.

I have no idea how he would have done that but you wouldn't opt to crash a truck rather than exceed a weight limit. Perhaps he was told to dip his headlights and his auto-translate fucked up.

It's the A346 near Stibb Green if anyone wants to look at Google streeview. Road narrows over bridge, doesn't appear to be a weight limit. If I was to guess, driver going too fast for the bends and narrowing to single file traffic of that size, met something coming the other way and hit the brakes hard or swerved to avoid a head on collision.

It is amazing how well the parakeets have done, I hate them just squarking, no bird song to admire and listen to.

Certainly noisy blighters but a colourful addition.
The usual suspects (great and blue tits, robin, and woodpecker) have all visited whilst the parakeets have been present.
Maybe a lesson for us all ... just get along and don't fear the incomer 😁

Charlie arrived just befor 14:00. We went to Draycote Water and had a look around for 30 minutes or so. Then we came back to the boat and pumped out the engine keep-all, then got a Chinky from Brinklow House take-away, then fitted the replacement fuel tank to the Solex. Tomorrow we are going to the National Motorcycle Museum but on the way we are gong to detour to Solihull and buy this.

Campervan conversion or new self employment as a 'man with a van' Mr Stabby ? Rog It's for Charlie, he wants it to transport his motorcycle around, bring it up to the boat without the 175 mile motorway ride.

Still a bit chilly.
Gale force 8 yesterday down at Gravesend apparently. Flaming June!
Fishing season started so I wss rudely awoken by a couple of arsehole scumbags with no manners talking loudly while inflating their dinghy. Why can't they work out talking loudly at 3am is arsehole behaviour? All they are doing is going up to the weir pool trying to catch big fish which they then sell to the fishing lakes. I suppose in the greater scheme this is quite good as the lakes may be better than the river for anglers therefore fewer of them on the River.
Normally I would not moor at this sort of spot as too much public but with the children its easier to use proper moorings rather than tie to trees.

How come the close season is respected on the river, but no-one bothers with it on the canals? I suppose it is easier to catch juvenile fish than ones who have a chance to grow a bit and become 'water wise'.
